This new Version is AWFUL. STOP trying to fix what is not broken!!!!!!! you have older people who already have problems trying to keep up and then you want to constantly go and try to "upgrade" things. WHY? can't you leave things alone? just STOP!!!!

If you provided comments via this topic before about Yahoo switching back to the Classic email format, then congratulations! I think they may have heard us. But if you are thrilled that Classic email has returned, you should also be equally concerned about its future. Please consider also voicing THAT concern here and/or at this new topic:
As you add your comments, please help elevate the priority of this issue by clicking “Critical” above the comment input box.

Go back to the previous version of Yahoo Mail - this new version is not user friendly or even aesthetically pleasing. I can't see my folders without clicking a button, I hate the shading on it, hovering over the preview of any message in the inbox is frustrating and gets in the way at times.

I hate the new version of Firefox mail. It crashes multiple times throughout the day. i have still been unable to add bold, underline or italics to type. The multiple shaded listings of received e-mails is much more uncomfortable to read, as opposed to no shading.. It would be nice if the people at Firefox followed that old wise saying: IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT

@scott lindner: I completely agree with your analysis, it's extremely pertinent (and might unfortunately be true, i.e. they've retired the mess for now, but next time there won't be no way back (possibly just the Basic).

While we are all happy to again have (permanent?; temporary?) access to the Classic format of Yahoo email, let’s not trip over ourselves applauding Yahoo over their move to “switch back to Classic”, nor totally forget-and-forgive their still-existing failings related to transparency, communication, and decision making.
We were all surprised and PO’d when our Classic format went away a few weeks ago – without prior notice or explanation from Yahoo. No “heads-up” email notice of “changes are coming”, no banner or pop-up warning with a link to explain what they were about to do. Further, there was not even an after-the-fact notice for what they had done! Their only communication or acknowledgement of the change that I recall is the “you are SOL” comment that was displayed at the top of the Yahoo Mail feedback page (https://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/962180-new-yahoo-mail):
*Those asking about going back to the old version. Unfortunately, if you do not see the "Go Back" button you cannot go back. We really hope you'll try the new experience! Thanks!
Then we apparently complained enough for them to switch it back. So we are happy. For now. For how long? Just as they were demonstratively poor in transparency, communication and decision making to switch us away from Classic, they have demonstrated those same failings in switching us back. Suddenly, the option to switch back reappeared within the Settings window. There was no “hey, we heard you” email announcement – much less one with instructions how to switch back. (Scroll down through this blog; there are still new entries from people – apparently unaware - complaining about not being able to switch back to Classic.) Is the change permanent, or just until they “fix” a few things and force another unannounced change upon us?
Accordingly, I am very suspect. It wouldn’t take much effort from Yahoo Mail to win back much of my trust. But as long as their only reference to the recent debacle remains the now-outdated “you are SOL” message noted above (yes, it is still there), I’m not holding my breath for them. As a longtime Yahoo Mail user who just successfully searched and found an email from 1999, the reality is very disappointing.

Go back to old version. new version is hard to navigate. I have not been able to see all my emails since the switch. Give me back my old style before I switch to gmail....

The new version seems to have no new benefits and lacks many of the basic search features of the classic version. The new version is also buggy in that it keeps reverting back to a filtered view even after clearing the filter and going back to inbox. I have thousands of emails to search and need all the functionality that the classic version had for searching emails.
