I have used Yahoo mail for over 20 years and have never had a real problem with it until I was changed over to this "new and improved" model of mail. There is an option to change from dark to light, but nothing that visually seperates the different boxes except a hair's width of a line surrounding each. It appears to be about half finished. There needs to be a colored background that colors the space between the boxes or a way for the user to delete some of the added clutter. Not all your users arechildren with eyes of an eagle. When I look at my mail box it all runs together visually. And I understand that the paid version doesn't offer these changes so it's pretty pointless to go to paid for me.
