Suggestions for improving action button consistency and visibility in the new Yahoo Mail Interface
In the new layout, the action buttons are arranged differently in the inbox view and when an individual email message is opened. In particular, options such as Read/Unread, Move, and Delete do not appear in a consistent order or location across these two views.
Inbox view: When selecting an email, the toolbar displays actions such as Archive, Move, Delete, Mark as Read/Unread, and other options in a particular order.
Individual email view: When opening an email, the toolbar displays actions such as Mark as Read/Unread, Starred, Move, Delete, and other options, making it less intuitive to locate familiar options.
Suggestions:
1. A consistent order of action buttons may be maintained. Common actions such as Read/Unread, Move, and Delete may be kept in the same relative order in both the inbox toolbar and the individual message toolbar.
2. Frequently used actions may appear in predictable positions, even when the user switches between the inbox and an opened message.
3. The overall toolbar design and interaction patterns may be kept consistent throughout Yahoo Mail, while still allowing for view-specific actions when necessary.
Additionally, assigning a subtle, distinct colour to each action icon, such as Archive, Read/Unread, Star, Move, and Delete, will make them easier to identify quickly while maintaining a clean, consistent, and visually appealing interface.
