Restore individual and bulk sender blocking in the new Yahoo Mail
Dear Yahoo Mail Team,
I am writing to complain about the disappearance of the “Block senders” option from the message toolbar in the new Yahoo Mail interface.
Previously, I could open a message and block its sender, or select multiple unwanted messages and block their senders in one operation. In my current interface, the three-dot menu for selected messages offers only “Mark as read,” “Star,” and “Unstar.” Blocking is no longer available there.
This is a significant loss of functionality. Deleting unwanted messages only removes those already received; it does not block their senders. Manually copying individual addresses into Settings → Security and Privacy → Blocked addresses is an impractical replacement for bulk blocking, especially when dealing with large amounts of spam.
I understand that blocking addresses cannot stop every spam or phishing attempt, particularly when senders change or forge their addresses. Nevertheless, removing convenient access to this tool makes managing unwanted email harder and more time-consuming.
I have used my Yahoo address for years, and it is registered with institutions, essential services, and shopping accounts. Moving to another provider would require extensive changes and create a risk of missing important correspondence. Long-standing users should not have to choose between that disruption and an interface that makes everyday email management more difficult.
Please restore:
- “Block sender” directly from an open message.
- “Block senders” for multiple selected messages.
- A clear distinction between deleting messages, reporting spam, and blocking senders.
Please clarify whether the missing blocking controls are an intentional design change or a bug, and whether they will be restored. Instructions for adding blocked addresses individually do not address the loss of this essential bulk action.
Kind regards,
A long-standing Yahoo Mail user
