SPAM
Dear Yahoo Mail Support and Abuse Team,
I am writing to formally complain about the ongoing and excessive amount of sexually suggestive and offensive unsolicited emails being delivered to my Yahoo-managed email account.
I have been a longtime email user, originally maintaining my email account through Cox Communications. I did not experience this level of offensive and unwanted email when Cox managed my email service. Since the transition of Cox email services to Yahoo following the changes in ownership involving Spectrum, I have experienced an ongoing problem that has become increasingly frustrating and unacceptable.
Additional Information Regarding My Legacy Cox.net Account
My email address remains a legacy @cox.net address originally established through Cox Communications. I have retained this address through the transition of email services to Yahoo and have no reasonable ability or desire to abandon it.
I am requesting that Yahoo specifically investigate whether legacy Cox.net accounts are receiving adequate spam protection and whether additional filtering or abuse-prevention measures can be applied to my account.
I would also appreciate clarification regarding which company is responsible for providing customer support and addressing persistent spam and abuse issues affecting legacy Cox.net email accounts.
The messages frequently contain sexually explicit or vulgar subject lines, including phrases such as "******* Raw," along with suggestive wording and sexual symbols, including peach and eggplant references. These are unsolicited messages that I have never requested and do not wish to receive.
I have made extensive efforts to address this problem myself, including:
• Blocking numerous individual sender addresses.
• Creating approximately 25 separate email filters using specific words, phrases, and variations.
• Filtering suggestive symbols and other recurring language.
• Regularly deleting unwanted messages from my Spam folder.
Unfortunately, none of these efforts has resolved the problem. The senders continually change their email addresses, while the offensive wording and nature of the messages remain substantially the same.
I should not have to continually create new filters and block new email addresses simply to avoid receiving sexually suggestive and offensive unsolicited material.
I recognize that spam is an ongoing challenge for email providers. However, this is no longer an occasional inconvenience. It is a persistent problem that has substantially interfered with my ability to use my email account comfortably.
I am particularly concerned that Yahoo's existing spam protection and filtering systems have not adequately addressed this repeated behavior.
I am requesting the following:
1. A formal review of the recurring sexually suggestive spam being delivered to my account.
2. Escalation of this complaint to Yahoo's spam prevention, abuse, or security department.
3. An investigation into whether the changing sender addresses share common sending domains, infrastructure, or other identifiable patterns.
4. Specific recommendations or additional protections Yahoo can provide beyond blocking individual senders and creating filters.
5. A written response explaining what steps Yahoo can take to address this ongoing problem.
6. Clarification of whether Yahoo or Spectrum has primary responsibility for addressing spam and abuse issues affecting my legacy Cox.net account.
I also want to make clear that changing my email address is not a reasonable solution. My existing address is associated with numerous personal, financial, and other important accounts. I should not be forced to abandon an established email address because the spam protections available to me are not adequately stopping repeated unwanted messages.
I understand that email and traditional postal mail are governed by different laws. Nevertheless, I believe users should have meaningful protection from persistent, unwanted sexually oriented material, particularly when repeated attempts to stop it have failed.
Please treat this as a formal complaint and not simply another request for instructions on blocking individual email addresses. I have already exhausted that approach.
I am requesting that this matter be escalated to someone with the authority and technical ability to investigate the problem and provide a meaningful solution, rather than another generic troubleshooting response.
I would appreciate a written response addressing each of my requests.
