You don't have to suggest that a commish might change the rules after the draft, and it doesn't matter how idiotic you think it would be. I've seen it happen, and Yahoo doesn't prevent it from happening in the future.
.
You also obviously don't understand the fun of joining a league with really different rules/players and trying out your skills in that circumstance.
.
The simple truth is that the proposed change will permit a commish to decide to impose roster limits after the draft. Yahoo should NOT give a commish this opportunity. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
I am AGAINST this suggestion.
I don't want to have to check the settings of each league that I might join to make sure that its commissioner didn't put maximums into the league. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

Well, Jose, I think that you are mostly right.
However, reading the blather that Mavrock is spewing,
I expect his league's problem would be more easily solved
by simply adding a second QB to the starting roster. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Dopey idea.

I hate it when a commish changes roster positions after the draft.

Hey guys -- check this one out.
A league has six teams with scores of 180, 140, 122.22, 122.22, 121, 104.
With the third and fourth teams tied, who gets how many victory points? An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
So, let's say your league has six teams whose scores for a week are: 170, 150, 100, 90, 80, and 70. That produces a league average of 110.
So, you'd have the top two teams receive an extra win and the other four teams receive an extra loss.
I don't like that idea. I want the same number of wins as losses in the league standings. Two additional losses would look stupid. -

You could do better. You could give the top 4 teams a win, the 2 middle teams a tie, and the bottom 4 teams a loss.
You could do better. You could have each team play each team each week. That eliminates much more of the luck factor.
You could do better. You could use Total Points scoring for the season and not even mess with wins and losses. The truly best team in the league is the one which scores the most total points during the season. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Let's say that a league with six teams produces these scores during a week: 84, 83, 82, 81, 52, and 51.
Would you seriously award an extra victory point to the team with 82 points, but not award a point to the team with 81 points?
Would you seriously treat the team with 81 points the same as the team with 52 points? An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

What if in some week the ten teams in your league score: 86, 85, 84, 83, 82, 81, 44, 43, 42, and 41 points.
Would you really give a victory point to the team which scored 82 points, but not give one to the team which scored 81 points?
Why would you treat the team which scored 81 points the same as the team which scored 44 points? An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

I agree that Cross-Country scoring needs to be implemented.
Note to Stephen Staple: Giving the top half of the teams a win and the bottom half of the teams a loss each week is a step in the right direction. However, it's only a step. A better system would be to give the top third of the teams a win, the middle third a tie, and the bottom third a loss. An even better system would be to have each team play each team each week.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Why don't we go to having every team play every team every week?
It would be so much more fair.
It would be easier to understand (and explain).
And, it would be easier code for the programmers to write. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
I agree with JJ that head-to-head play often results in lesser teams making the play-offs because of the "luck of the schedule."
And I agree with Jim that having every team play every team every week is a better solution than what JJ suggested. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
I agree with the comments below that "Mike" posted on July 19 and that "Me" posted on Oct.24.

Hey Anonymous -- Your equation doesn't start with zero.
Perhaps you meant to say starting with the zero yard line?
I would call it the goal line.An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Yes, an equation would be better. That's not to say that more scoring categories isn't an improvement. But, an equation would be a superior improvement.
Note to Anonymous: Why are you calling yourself what I call myself? An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
Continuing with the logic of valuing plays which make a first down above other plays, we obviously should change our scoring for tackles. We should give a bonus to a defensive player who tackles an opponent before he makes a first down instead of after he makes it. And we should give a bonus to DEF teams which hold the offense to a FG rather than a TD. Yup, this kind of thinking is crazy, but no more crazy than giving a bonus for making a first down.
.
Regarding the player who catches a screen pass and is then tackled for a loss, he probably deserves the bonus for catching a pass. The defense maybe should be rewarded with a bonus for tackling him for a loss. Often, defenses are good at stopping offensive plays. And often, just being able to catch a pass against a good defense is quite an accomplishment. Perhaps a penalty should be assessed against the QB for throwing the pass in that situation -- or maybe it is already assessed in that the lost yardage will be reflected in the QB's passing yards for the game. Further, the lost yardage will be reflected in the receiver's yards for the game. But, the receiver must catch the ball before he can start running with it, and the fact that he managed to catch the ball should be rewarded. -

Should we also have team RBs and team WRs and team TEs?
.
Team QBs will be a mess if / when the Wildcat QB becomes popular again. -

You guys need to quit hating on Adam.
He probably didn't really like the changes any more than you did.
He probably wrote that BS to get the Yahoo guys to like him
and to actually read and consider his opinion
that the black background is the worst problem
with the 2013 re-do of what was once a really good gaming system. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented

I want to expand on the message I posted here in Sept.
I mentioned "black-on-white" when describing the old format.
But much more is involved than just the color scheme.
Team logos have been rounded.
The message board is now inconvenient to use.
The commissioner's note is stuck way down scroll.
The emphasis seems to have been changed from inter-action with other players to x-ing out notices about stupid medals. An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commented
No, actually, the new format sucks.
Please allow me to use the old black-on-white format. -

A fun idea. And, with the turmoil and frustrations created by this year's re-design of Fantasy Football, Yahoo needs to have some fun ideas.

If Yahoo decides to allow a commish to establish a max player position,
then Yahoo needs to allow it only before the draft,
and not allow it to be put in place after the draft.
It would be easier to simply discard this idea.
Many unforeseen difficulties can arise from its use.
