[Chat/Message Boards] Message Board Removal Feedback
Feedback regarding the removal of message boards from Fantasy Baseball in the 2023 season.
Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes. Moving forward we are investing in chat as the best place for league communication and will be adding threading, pinning, polls and more. We welcome your feedback below about how your league used message boards to help us make future improvements.

Getting rid of message boards is absolutely ridiculous. They serve a critical function and take zero effort. We used it to post league rules, things for easy reference, and it made conversations easier to participate in instead of one long stream of consciousness in the chat. Bad move.

This was a terrible idea and completely destroys the league. How do you really expect people to share information? This actually the dumbest move you could possibly make for a fantasy league. Just shut the whole thing down what's the point

I won't be playing this year with the removal of message boards. The banter and smack talk was important to me and one of the reasons that I played in Yahoo! leagues. I'm gonna miss my friends so thanks for nothing Yahoo!. You suck. Mike Patrick (Daddymike)

Terrible idea. That’s how we communicate and keep track of things. We will be going to ESPN because of this.

Our leagues used the message boards VERY MUCH. Things can get lost in the chat box, but message boards allow you to keep everything organized. This is a HUGE loss. So much that we're thinking about taking our league to another site.

Our league uses the message board numerous times daily all season to post add/drops of minor league players, trade details which concern draft picks, and other reasons.
Essentially, the board was used to fill in the gaps in functionality that Yahoo did not offer. There is no good reason to take away the board and if it is not put back the league will be leaving.

My league is a dynasty league that has a progressive keeper schedule of four years. I already have to manually track all trades, draft years, and keeper round progression. Taking the message board away really hinders my ability to backtrack all activity. We do not use chat, and the message board allows such easy sorting of categories for my league.

Actually how the **** do we send an announcement to our league now!?

The message board has been THE method for league wide communication for our league. More stupid changes to drive legacy players away. I HATE THE CHANGE, THOUGH AS USUALLY THE CASE, I'M SURE OPPOSITION ID FUTILE.

We never used Fantasy Chat ever. Maybe if it was a little more visible and scrolling with chatter, people would join in. But it was a button you had to initiate to wanna say something. No one ever did in our leagues. We only used the message board to post the payouts, and also if there was a transaction mistake/correction. But it was nice to have somewhere to have the payouts stay posted. I guess I can use the Commissioners Note for it now.

I see that the chat box is functioning again but now I'm even more disappointed seeing it has few new features. If it was taken down for maintenance, why was there no heads up on our league home pages or an error message telling us to try back after a time frame (rather than us staring at a spinning wheel with each attempt)?
At first I was really concerned that the system was overwhelmed by those renewing or starting up baseball leagues who no longer have a msg board option and worried if the server could handle heavy traffic this coming NFL season.
Chat does serve its purpose when joking around with league mates who happen to be online at the time (rather than creating a message board post resulting in email notifications to everyone) and would have come in handy to chat with others about NBA AllStar Weekend/NHL Stadium Series/XFL/etc. So, please do give us threads with topic headers so that chatter is separate from transactions. If you upgrade it to our liking, hopefully all will be forgiven because I sincerely enjoy using Yahoo! and, in these crummy economic times, do not want to see anyone lose their job. Reality sucks. So allow us to enjoy fantasy. -

Incredibly stupid decision and this whole "we welcome your feedback" is massively condescending as there's no way that you lot will go back on this decision. No one at Yahoo will read these.
Message Boards are a simple way for leagues to communicate and discuss issues and I don't see how that can possibly be a difficult thing for Yahoo to continue.
Also love how you guys want opinions of the Message on a Message Board where you have to log in even though I followed a link from my league which I was already logged into. Make us jump through more hoops to give our opinions. Very on brand for Yahoo. -

If they wanted to replace the message boards with chat that had threads, etc., then why would you shut down the boards before rolling out the improved chat function? Probably because they can't. If they wanted to build chat so that it worked something like Slack, accessible equally between web browsers and the app (though why anyone would allow that on their phone, I can't tell you), then fine. But as it is, they have shown no ability to do that, and it's doubtful they ever will. Because they're Yahoo.

Dumbest idea ever, not everyone has the app & plus the chat feature doesn't notify you of new messages like the message board does

Just to find out, when did this draft take place?

Removing the message boards is dumb. Who made such a bad choice and thought it was a good idea? Probably not somebody involved in fantasy sports leagues. Yikes.
If you folks at Yahoo really welcomed feedback, you would have sought it out before making the change. Clearly people who play fantasy sports want the boards back. This is just lip-service, asking for feedback when you don't care what we think.

We used the message boards to post important notices about league deadlines, league dues, payouts, rule changes, playoff seedings, etc. It is better than email because it's a retained thread of a conversation history that is pinned to the league. The email function in Yahoo leagues is useless because you can't even reply to the message thread and include the prior messages in your response. And you can only reference it within your email history. Who thought this was a good idea?
