More custom scoring options
I Love Yahoo's custom scoring options, but would like a few more: #1- Enable Win, loss, and tie +or- for both QB's and team Defs. bonus points #2- Enable penalties committed/drawn +or- such as pass int. drawn for a receiver/QB, or a holding call against a player resulting in negative points, in increments of 5 yard, 10 yard, and 15 yard penalties, etc... #3- instead of only offer bonus points for 40+ yard efforts, offer bonus points for 20+ & 30+ & 40+ yard efforts at each position. #4- Offensive fumble recovery yards gained as well as def and Special teams fumble recovery yards gained for specific players. #5- Kickers field goals offering a per yard amount instead of a range, example: Field Goals 0-30 Yards= 3, each additional yard over 30= .10 (ex. 48 yard field goal = 4.8 points), also with a negative amount on misses. #6- team def points and yards given up equaling a per yard and a per point amount instead of the range. example is 0 points given up= 12 points, and each point given up = -.5 points, then 0's out at 24 points given up, and similar with yards given up on a per yard basis. #7 points for onside kick recovery for both players and team Def's. #8 for PPR, have a ability to differentiate the PPR amount between RB's, WR's, and TE's, example: Receptions RB= .5, Receptions WR= 1, Receptions TE= 1.5 #9- Junk Yards/points: If the team Def. Team is winning by 24+ points at any time in the 4th quarter, then from that point on, the value of all points and yards given up will be reduced... (–.5 points for every point given up instead of –1, and –.02 points for every yard given up (+ or –) instead of –.05... The same applies if the team is up by 17+ points with 5 min. or less left in the game, from that point on, all of the yards and points given up AFTER that point are reduced as the same above. However, if at any point thereafter, the opposing team gets within 10 points, then it all becomes nullified and the entire game scoring goes back to the regular scoring... #10- A player does NOT become “locked” in his roster position at game time... Instead, the player becomes “locked” when they enter into the game. The only exception is for team Def. And kickers, they become “locked” at game time, as long as the kicker is “active”. If the kicker is “inactive” then they will not lock in and you will be able to pull the kick at any time during the week until the week ends. #11- Any player cannot score less than 0 points... So I don't want any player, including team def. To score less than 0 points (no final negative points for any position) #12- be able to play more than 30 roster positions. #13- Team def. bonus points for kickoff touchbacks, kickoff's inside the 20, punts inside the 10 yard line.

Yahoo is only allowed to use official NFL stats so they have their hands tied. It would be nice to be able to create your own defensive yards allowed categories to make them more in line with the NFL average.

You guys have gotten WAY TOO CAUGHT UP IN BS!
#1 you can do with Edit team scoring
#2 way too play specific
#3 at catch is a catch weather is for a yard or 50 yards
#4 you would have to have offensive line players
#5 3 points is 3 points weather it's 20 or 60 it's 3 points. Where you all get off track is you want extra point just draft the guy who kicked the most 50+ yarders.
#6 too detailed
#7 onside kicks are practically eliminated why mess with them
#8 PPR should not even exist anymore see rant at the end
#9 insane it would take you all day Monday to figure all this meaningless stuff out. I'm getting real tired reading all this
#10 as commish you can change any position at any time your job is to be fair about it.
#11 non sense a player catches a pass for an 11 yard loss should be deducted. This goes against all the above you have been preaching.
#12 only thing that has made sense but reminder hoarding kills leagues
#13 the new NFL kick off rules have made it a completely meaningless play. The NFL needs to change that. It used to be the most exciting play of the game. The No Fun League has ruined that. You are so far out of control there is literally no chance of saving you, You are pretty much asking for play by play scoring.
Fantasy is based on the game which now a days means nothing.
Why do you think basic scoring was 10 per point & QB 20 per pass?
It's all based on moving the chains, 10 yards for a first down equals 10 yards per point. When fantasy was started the NFL was a rushing league it was not uncommon for a RB to get 40 points.
Then came computers & computer geeks who made up PPR to get WR's points because it was rare for a WR to get 20 points.Enter 2018 PPR is no longer necessary because now the NFL is a passing league.
Last year ALL WR's averaged 13 yards a catch. So if your league is scoring higher than that you are only shooting yourself in the foot. That's all WR from Michael Thomas to Quincy Enunwa's 1 catch for -4 yards. So imagine how much higher that number actually is for JUST the top 50!
Everyone the says what about the 5 or 8 yard catch well that was likely in a 3 & out situation each team punted about 65 times last year so not every play deserves points.
Even TE averaged over 10 yards per catch & that's from Travis Kelce's 79 catches to Eric Tomlinson's 1 catch for 1 yard. Again imagine how high that number is for JUST the top 30!
Right now in 2020 there should be no PPR when using basic scoring. Again if you are at more than 1 point per 10 yards you are defeating the purpose.
With all those suggestions I can't believe you left out punters!
Get back to basics & chill out man you are way out of control.

I also agree with #8.
For PPR, have a ability to differentiate the PPR amount between RB's, WR's, and TE's, example: Receptions RB= .5, Receptions WR= 1, Receptions TE= 1.5
This will help solve the over inflated value of certain RB's.

Really would just like #8 from OP.

Highly agree with variable PPR and incremental kicker scoring.
Would like to add:
1. All Tackles for Loss +0.25 each, then +0.1 for each yard lost. Currently we get sacks. A 1-yard sack is less valuable than stopping the RB 5 yards into the backfield.
2. All 0 or negative yardage plays net 0 points for the offensive player. In PPR, catching a screen pass but losing a yard results in +0.9 points for a negative play. The QB does not lose yardage for sacks, presumably because this is the fault of the offensive line. The same could be said for failed reverses, screens and simple running plays.

Upvoting for fractional FGs. It is a must-have -- why not treat FG like other positions? 3.0 points for both a 30-yarder and a 39-yarder makes no sense.
It is simple: FG distance divided by 10. Make it happen please! From a product perspective this is very low-hanging fruit.

i have also thought we should award points for the Def getting a victory ,it is their ultimate goal

I’ve been wanting this for years for FG made distance, FG missed distance, DEF Pts allowed and DEF Yds allowed. It is no different than rushing, passing, or receiving yds calculation. Please correct this oversight.

I'd really just like to see the ability to customize positional scoring (most specifically because my league just passed TE premium PPR) and I don't want to leave the Yahoo platform just because of this one little rule change.
-
Justin commented
Positional PPR settings for TE Premium leagues capabilities is a must.
Having the ability to set PPR value based on individual length of reception is another great option.
A designated tiebreaker players should be able to be selected from the bench when rosters are set.

I can tell you penalty related scoring will never be part of the game.
As to giving points to a player when their team wins, that won't happen either, because there is no way of knowing if the player contributed to the win.

Why not offer pts for pass interference yardage gained? You get those yards in real football and you certainly get yds/TDs erased for offensive penalties. So why not give the option for either full/fractional credit to QB/WR/RB/TE for yds gained via PI call?
Our league has been considering eliminating the kicker position because of randomness (perceived or real lack of skill to pick). Instead it would be nice to add an additional flex roster spot that was eligible as a kicker too. So you could play K/RB/WR/TE. You could play a kicker if you want a safer floor or play a WR if you need upside.
It would also be nice to add a bonus for players who's team won or loss. Some way to add value to winning players/teams.

you are going super customization!

options should be customizable for scoring, but changes can only be made pre-draft. no scoring changes after draft, because it is not fair for everyone who joined and read the rules aka scoring system before joining your league

Would love to have the option for fractional points for field goals!

Been a year since this was suggested and we still only have basic scoring options. This should be totally customizable.

Wait where'd this random post come from about all these scoring by Grady. This was an entire thread based on FG kicking. Lets not lose site of that. His post should be somewhere entirely different.

Basically it would be the same as 10yds = 1 point. With fractional scoring it'll be the same as RB and WR. So a 43 yd FG you would score 4.3 points

But yeah i fully support 1yd= 0.1 points. I hope Yahoo seriously considers this for 2016
