Can you please STOP, STOP, STOP, auto playing videos on your Yahoo news home pages and your Yahoo news page
Can you please STOP, STOP, STOP, auto playing videos on your Yahoo news home pages and your Yahoo news pages especially the ones titled 'Must see' which are repeated every time I log on to the Yahoo news website. These are so annoying. Can I please choose which videos I want to watch without you keep repeatedly auto playing them when I don't even want to watch them and especially when I'm trying to READ your news items. Please let me chose which videos I want to watch. That is the most annoying feature about the Yahoo news website. If you Google it you will see many other Yahoo users want to switch these off but can't. Can you please STOP auto playing your videos.

I agree 100%. Out here in rural America, we have extremely slow internet (we are lucky if we get 1Mbps from our DSL internet). These automatic videos just waste internet bandwidth. Either stop the auto-play, or provide a setting for users to disable all auto-play if desired. I like to read articles on Yahoo Finance, but I almost never select a video news story. These autoplaying videos are a pain.

P L E A S E !
It isn't bothering me (at a human level) that the videos auto-play with no sound. What's bothering me is that you're eating against my bandwidth cap. So when I've been leaving the Yahoo Finance homepage up all day, you're constantly streaming video to my PC and day-by-day eating against my ISP's bandwidth cap. Yes, even on a desktop PC visiting with a web browser.
I really do like the video content, but I just can't afford how much bandwidth you're eating. The easy solution would be an autoplay off/on, but if you have another solution that solves the bandwidth problem, that's fine too.
Thanks!

Yeah, the finance page is great, but I'm at my limit with the autoplay videos.

Your website is absolute garbage.
You can't look up a ticker until the dropdown loads.
Which won't load until all 7 videos and ads, along with a thousand cookies and trackers on your page loads completely
Then when they do load, they've already finished and another video starts AUTOMATICALLY LOADING AND PLAYING.
Then you stillcan't even look up a ticker.
Why are you guys such idiots?

Consider the environmental and economic cost of video autoplay. https://newscenter.lbl.gov/2014/06/02/berkeley-lab-study-highlights-growing-energy-impact-of-internet-video-streaming/
Think about all the good reasons to stop video autoplay. (1) your customers don't like it. (2) it's bad for the planet (3) unnecessary energy cost at your data center, both to send the bits and to cool the electronic hardware (4) autoplay increases wear and tear on your electronic hardware and increases maintenance costs. (5) autoplay requires you to have faster and higher bandwidth hardware, which is more costly.

Not only is this VERY annoying, but it uses valuable bandwidth and data. Also, it uses energy. There have been reports in the news about the digital demands on the electric grid. The widespread autoplay of videos only adds to this environmental and economic problem. Yahoo stop this practice if you are serious about being a good corporate citizen.

I agree that we should be able to stop the auto playing of video. I like to be able to check on my stocks while I am at work.
My work already has stopped all employees from checking their facebook because it started playing videos automatically. My worry is that eventually they will tell employees the same about Yahoo Finance also.
Note at my work place concrete walls are feet thick in places and I can't get a cell signal in over 90% of the facility. -

Previous comments express how annoying and costly this setting is.
The world appears to be beholden to advertisers everywhere and their interruption to our use of internet research.
It slows our computers down; chews up our data allocations - all to force down our throats what we DO NOT WANT TO WATCH.
What is especially annoying is that every refresh or page change within your site re-starts the auto-play, requiring a PAUSE just to make the pages load with minimal delay. IT IS NOT A FEATURE IT IS A BURDEN -

Please give users an option to disable auto-playing video. The audio from those videos interfere with audio from my TV. Thanks so much

Stop the auto-play/auto-loading video on the Yahoo Finance homepage - it slows down my experience and takes time out of my day to cancel it.
