The new interface seems unfinished.
This new email interface does not seem to be working as expected. After opening an email and then replying to it, the email remains open in it's own tab. I have to go back and close it manually. Not sure if this is configurable, but it is a weird default, at best. Contact management does not seem to be implemented at all. Found the Contact button off to the right, but clicking it opens a new tab in my browser that shows the old interface. Contacts are there, but before I can use them, the message pops up wanting to know if I want to try the new interface. If I accept, no contacts, then click the contacts button, get new tab, prompted to go to new interface, and so on. Only way to edit contacts seem to be to stay on the old interface. Not sure what the intent is here, but the old interface worked fine. There does not seem to be any real need for a wholesale replacement, Why not just improve features over time, incrementally. Much less traumatic for your users, and much more practical for development.
