Filters: Manage Massive Filters More Effectively - Idea 01, Filter Rule or Priority Number to Aid Re-sequencing Filter Logic
20190819
Enhance users productivity and experience. Make managing tens or even hundreds of email filters easier.
Currently, I am using about 70 filters and likely on a upwards trend. Read somewhere that we could have up to 500 filters and some even asked for more...
What is needed to manage and make sense of 500 filters?
1. Imagine clicking the UP icon to move the latest rule up 100 times Or click and drag existing rule up or down 200 lines? May I suggest a priority/filter number field that allow us to insert or edit the priority during and after filter creation.
Why?
Filter rules are applied from Top to Bottom so the sequence will affect where the email ended up in.
Eg: Rule 1 says: Move email From alice@wonderland.eg to Folder: Fables and Rule 2 says: Move email To disposable-email5@yahoo.com to Folder: folder5. What happens when alice@wonderland.eg send email to disposable-email5@yahoo.com? Which folder would that goes to? Of course, rule 1 wins, ie folder Fables.
What if we wanted the email to be filtered to folder5? What if its NOT rule 1 and 2 but rule 15 and rule 165? As of now, 20190819, only solution is to click the UP icon about 150 times.
