Inbox Categories Options
In playing with my email settings (and realizing I definitely prefer having the inbox categories disabled), I've realized that the option to presort/filter my mail with a quick button click is actually really handy. Here are some ideas for tweaking it to make it more user-specific.
Please please please, let me set which filter I want as my default and/or allow the option to just go back to the last used filter. I hate that it keeps going back to the 'priority' filter.
It would be nice to be able to select which filters I want being used. I don't get anything I would qualify as an 'offer' or 'social' in some emails, so being able to declutter that top section would be nice.
Similar to #2, it would be nice to have a wider range of available filters ('unread' is the first one that comes to mind).
Having the option to create a personalized filter would also be handy. Filter options such as email, subject matter, or keywords are the first things that come to mind.
The priority filter would be more useful if I could mark emails as 'non-priority' or 'priority'. I don't care if the AI uses my input to determine whether something is priority, but without the ability to personalize what is considered 'priority' the filter is unreliable because I'll still have to go through the entire inbox to see if the AI missed anything.

Get rid of it, it is terrible. I have nearly missed several important emails because they weren't in priority and I didn't catch it.

Too many emails that are not "priority" are going to that tab. I'd like to be able to "click and hold" email senders/originators in the "from" column and drag them to a different tab of my choice. Thanks for considering this.

Just go back to the previous version. Nothing else matters. We like Yahoo, not this Gmail clone you've made.

The Priority category does a decent job of classifying items that probably should be flagged as priority, but there inevitably many false-positives that end up in there. Please add the ability to provide user input such as "This is not Priority" or conversely in the main inbox "Mark as priority".

So, are you changing the inbox options so that "ALL" is the default, instead of that ridiculous "Priority"? Who decided what I might think was a "priority" message? I've already missed important and timely email messages because I was in a hurry and didn't notice that the page listed only what yahoo thought were priority messages, rather than all of my incoming email.

REMOVE ALL INBOX CATEGORIES AND THAT PESKY "PRIORITY" FOLDER. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME ANYWAYS AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO FILTER THROUGH ALL MY MAIL. NEW LOOK NOT AS HANDY OR USEFUL AS THE OLD.

Yes! We should able to control what is a "Priority" for us. And "Priority" should not be the default folder in my inbox :(

I'd like to be able to quickly change which part of my inbox a sender's emails go to. In other words, if I'm finding particular emails in my Offers, Social, or Newsletters that I want to come to my Priority inbox, or vice versa, I'd like to do that quickly and easily.

Hey Neil, thanks for your feedback. Absolutely! We agree! Definitely harder to build, but this is what we'd eventually like the feature to do. Give more control to our users based on their actions and triaging. We have already shared this with our team as it's been suggested by our Community a handful of times. We will continue to share this type of feedback with them. Thank you for taking the time to write this and for trying the new desktop experience!

It would be helpful to have a way to train the system on what counts as a priority message and what doesn’t. For example, if a non-priority message shows up in the priority section, I should be able to mark it as "not a priority." Similarly, if an important message isn't marked as priority, I should be able to mark it as one. The goal is for the system to learn from my choices and better understand which messages are important to me.

This is ALL really great feedback, Rachel. We will definitely leave this thread up so that others can see and comment. We will also share with the team so they can see how we can make Inbox Categories more useful for our Community. Thanks again for taking the time to write this. We really appreciate it!
