Slightly Greyed out Read emails
I don't think it is enough to have unread emails with bolded text and read email normal. On desktop at least, there should be more contrast at a glance between read and unread emails. Make the whole line greyed out for emails that have been opened and read, even if it's slightly so. Just like with previous versions of yahoo, like other email services do in their UI.
