Whenever you get spammed with email that your filters can't handle, it is extremely helpful to click on the trashcan icon to the item to delete the top email. That email is deleted and the next email hops into its spot. Then, just click again and the next item is delete and then repeat to delete the next email. All that garbage is cleaned up quickly.

The trashcan does not appear until the mouse is moved, slowing things down noticeably.
Do not try to tell me about clicking the checkbox and doing bulk deletes because that would be the same thing as saying "I don't really understand how to do email", and you certainly wouldn't like to embarrass yourself like that.
You know, there are people out there called "usability experts", they help you to find problems like this and give you ideas on how to fix it. You people should hire lots and lots of these people.
