Make the usable area of the viewing pane bigger by eliminating toolbar and unfreezing headers
1) Right now, when viewing a message in the bottom of the viewing pane, the toolbar is at the top of the message. That takes up precious space -- about 1/4 of the viewing pane -- and should be removed to the top of the inbox where it used to be.
2) The header (i.e., the subject and the sender) of the email in the viewing pane freezes and does not scroll with the rest of the message; it takes up about 1/4 of the viewing pane.
These two gross errors in judgment mean that the part of the viewing pane in which the text of the message can be read is effectively half the size of the viewing pane, which makes it nearly impossible to read a message without opening it all the way up.
