So, how about you manually re-type it from /n/ to /b/ or /d/?
(I'm not trying it, because I WON'T budge from basic /b/ for nothing, now.
However unappealing it is, it's there to stay. I won't be in position where a version of yahoo mail I got used to is snatched from me without notice and without chance to recover it, again. EVER.)An error occurred while saving the comment happy girl commented
You know, Yahoo the management don't REALLY care that users don't like this change.
They figure the times are changing, everything is migrating to mobile so they adapt a phone look of the website while cleaning the space for twice as many ads, and that's that.
Yes they do monitor what did folk moan most about thanks to you all voting and commenting here, but they also do have cold hard facts about what percentage of overall users really used which function they are now so vigorously protesting they lost.
One example is the currently 7th ranked "idea" titled "Colors/Themes" on which Yahoo Mail Team replied 1 month back that "Yes, we have simplified our themes. We have no plans at this time in adding more themes/colors/backgrounds. We had a whole bunch, but a majority of our users stuck with the default color. The usage was too low and the upkeep was too much." So, that's one example of their approach because if you are a desktop user who is 25+ years with Yahoo and suddenly hear in year 2025 that having colors is too much upkeep it's like HILARIOUS. To think this is what you get after the years of development, who would have guessed this 25 years ago? LOL But if you are person who is 20 and does not know better and does not even own desktop computer then you are the future, right? Old users will die out.
So yeah, there might be 5000+ comments clamoring to revert this change
- by the way, if you create a "new idea" under "Yahoo New Mail" which is a bit more militant, they delete it and instead, your post will appear among comments HERE, so that also increases the number -
but they won't budge. Even if they do, in couple years yet more new management can come and change the mail YET AGAIN. Young mobile users won't know any better, and the old desktop ones? Did you notice how the blank, BASIC look of the "new" mail reminds of the Yahoo Basic Mail? Do you remember it? It's still hidden there. Which gave me the idea to turn it on to see whether THAT won't after all be better. If you go on the three dots on the left pane, it unhides "Settings", and there in the settings, look on the left, eventually you'll find "Swith to basic Mail" which will turn your mail into simplified, washed out looking page stripped of most of the graphic, with just purple header the rest stark white, primitive buttons and functions - but at least you do have the basic ones now missing, and at least it's not gray with gmail rounded edges - which is like from years back. But I decided you know what? Better stick with it, because if you make yourself used to this again, then every now and then a new kid that comes to Yahoo management and decides yet another crazy redesign of Yahoo mail, you will be spared. It won't touch YOU.
So yeah, I won't scream here that I am leaving to Gmail or AOL, that is ridiculous that won't be any improvement FOR ME, why should I change my email address I have for quarter a century? This "Idea" is called "GO BACK TO THE CLASSIC VERSION", which is actually not correct, because by that people probably mean the previous form of the "Standard Version of Yahoo mail". The Standard Version has changed before and it's possible that it will keep changing with each new management. I switched to "Yahoo basic Mail", to avoid the current disastrous Standard Version, and more importantly, to be in peace in the future. I am tired with all the experiments.

As of today, I switched back to Yahoo Basic Mail.
On the left pane, Click the three dots (low left) - Settings - Switch To basic Mail.
This idea came to me after realizing that the "New version" of mail looks stripped of all the functions and graphic. It reminds you the bare minimum mail. That's why I it occured to me to actually turn the Basic Mail back on.
Yes it does not have all the advanced functions but at least it's got those BASIC ones that people list here that they miss..
Yes it does not have any graphic but at least it's not all grey with gmail rounded edges.
I am an older desktop user and I don't need today's kids to redesign all my favorite websites to adapt mobile phone look to get a raise for creating twice space for ads. I'm tired of all their experiments.
If this happened today (suddenly and out of nowhere, too) then god know what can happen in future.
So, I stay with Yahoo Basic Mail.
In peace and quiet. An error occurred while saving the comment happy girl commented
This instantly solves:
. Differentiation Between Unread and Read Emails
. See Number of Unread Emails
. Please add an empty trash and an empty Spam button Thanks
. Make Trash and Spam Folders More Accessible
. Reply/Forward Arrows to emails do not show in the Inbox
. The "Drafts" icon no longer shows the number of active drafts
. Colors/Themes - The gray background of read e-mails
. ABILITY TO MOVE SENT EMAILS TO INBOX
. Can 'select all' be made visible all the time?
. BLUE DOT - Unread
. Other stuff... BASICALLY ALL THE TOP RANKED "IDEAS HOW TO IMPROVE NEW YAHOO MAIL - MOST IDEAS ARE ABOUT MISSING FUNCTIONS WE WERE USED TO HAVINGThe origin of my idea: When Yahoo Mail suddenly changed to "New version", it occur to me that this was only some kind of test. It did not look like done to me. It was apparent that most of the functions were gone, and also there was NO GRAPHIC. So it instantly kinda reminded me of Yahoo Basic Mail. That's basically a bare minimum mail. Like a 90's mail. But guess what! It does have all these functions that are now missing in "current version" which most of people list they are missing.
So, I just did this: on the left pane, I clicked the three dots - selected Settings - there from the options on the left I selected "Switch To basic Mail".
The Yahoo Basic is very plain. Yes, all the advanced functions and the graphic are gone, but at least it's neat and clean, you can see all your folders, there's the unread dot, there's button to epty Trash & Spam without even going inside the folder, there's select all visible at all times, the subject line has subject line only and not only half of it + the inside text of the e-mail, and it's not all grey with the gmail rounded edges. Talking about gmail, I am not switching to IT. That solves nothing. But, looks like I will be sticking with the Basic version of Yahoo Mail.
Because if this happens now, who knows what will happen in the future?

You know what this "New Mail" reminds me?
The Yahoo Basic.
Just try to click The Three Dots (bottom left) - Settings - Switch To basic Mail
IT LOOKS SAME, MAYBE BETTER.
I mean all the advanced functions are gone, there's no graphic, but at least it's neat and clean, you can see all your folders, there's the unread dot, there's button to epty Trash & Spam without even going inside the folder, there's select all visible at all times, the subject line has subject line only and not only half of it + the inside text of the e-mail, and it's not all grey with the gmail rounded edges.
I am a desktop user and if every of my favorite sites is going to adapt the "phone look" and abandon half its function to have twice space for ads, then I have nothing good to look forward to.happy girl supported this idea ·

It's correct to point out that the "new look" reminds you of the Yahoo basic Mail which is s stark white (at least not gray) barren page with primitive layout and basic buttons but at least it's functional. If beth horn said the unread emails now look like "ads" that are mixed in, then that's probably on purpose, and what's more, young 20 year old people with mobile phones and NO desktop computers don't know any better anyway, so Yahoo will not change it back to please YOU. If you want yourself spared in the future, go on the three dots on the left pane, it unhides "Settings", and there in the settings, look on the left, eventually you'll find "Swith to basic Mail" which will turn your mail into simplified version but it's stable and whenever a new kid that comes to Yahoo management in the future - and they WILL come - and decides yet another crazy redesign of Yahoo mail, you will be spared. It won't touch YOU. So yeah, I switched to Basic.

Regarding the users who comments on how this new redesign is going backwards:
Yes, as a 25+ years long user of Yahoo, I confirm that the new washed out, stripped out of everything look actually reminds you of Yahoo Mail Basic. Do you remember it? It's still hidden there. If you go on the three dots on the left pane, it unhides "Settings", and there in the settings, look on the left, eventually you'll find "Swith to basic Mail" which will turn your mail into simplified, barren looking page stripped of most of the graphic, with just purple header the rest white, primitive buttons and functions. But at least you do have the basic ones now missing, at least it is white and not gray, with gmail rounded edges.
I won't scream here that with things being like this, I will go to Gmail or AOL. THAT would not be pleasant to me and would be no better FOR ME so Why change my e-mail address I am used to? If I can make myself used Yahoo Basic again, then every time a new kid that comes to Yahoo management in the future and decides yet another crazy redesign of Yahoo mail to suit young mobile people who don't even own a desktop computer anymore (they don't really care whether the old users dislike, they will die out), I will be spared. It won't touch ME. So yeah, I switched to Basic.

About 5 pages down in these comments, there is one from Yahoo Mail Team, posted

which I recommend everyone to read. It's HILARIOUS.
Apparently, having colors was too much "upkeep".
Really rich to hear something like that in year 2025. Like 20 years ago (of which the "new" look reminds me), who would have guessed this is how things will turn out?:-Dhappy girl supported this idea ·

Problem is not only that the current version suxx. Next time they change it - and they will, to god knows what - it will become New format and this currrent one that everyone's hating will become "Classic". That's why I'll stick to Basic.
