I don't understand the desire for this proposal... a GWG is a GWG whether it's in OT or not isn't it?
To say it's "Truer" than scoring with say less than a second in regulation isn't right. And how is it more "clutch" when it's down to 3 on 3?
While I'm all for having options there are better improvements to be made -

Overtime goals and Shootout goals are two of the worst categories you can ask for.

Can you please add OT Loss to Goalies? My pool uses this stat to award points

Add a scoring category for a hat trick so you can give bonus points for it. Yahoo needs more scoring categories like ESPN

At least give us the option to run it as a negative stat.

I suppose there is no chance of getting this implemented prior to October 12? Guess it's another year in ESPN...

100% correct. I use Yahoo for every other league, but have to keep our hockey league in ESPN because they won't add ATOI which is already being tracked. Infuriating!

I'm not crazy about adding punters, although it would be an interesting spin. However, I wouldn't mind adding some of these stats to a DEF/ST points. For instance, punts downed inside the 20,10,5 like the others have said, but adding it to the defense/special team points.

Yes! This is a great idea!
NFL already keeps punter stats, so this should be easy for Yahoo to add.
Stats could be as follows:
Number of punts
Gross Punt Yardage
Touchbacks
Inside 20
Total Punt Return Yards -

Please add Overtime Goals as a statistic option. It is a stat that is tracked by the NHL - results for last season can be viewed here:
OT Goals are the truest form of a game winning goal, and is the ultimate exemplification of a "clutch" player.

If short handed points "should" be worth more, then logically shouldn't powerplay points be worth less?
They've combined them into a category called "Points"
-
Daniel Horsman commented
My league argues whether or not Short Handed Points are worth an entire category, yet they should be worth more than 5v5 points. By combining PPP and SHP into one category we could find some middle ground on this issue, and the stat would be easy to create on Yahoo's end.

You already track it... each players ATOI can be viewed in the player pool. It's a great stat category to have to add value to good players, especially good D-men. Considering moving my league to ESPN because I know they have it.

This seems so pointless. How is this the 2nd ranked topic?!!

The big one I am getting at is a composite goalie wins category (W + OTL) have 2 points for a win, and 1 point for a overtime loss or shootout loss. Its so frustrating watching your goalie go the distance only to lose in a 6 round shootout.
Other stats which would be nice: goalie scoring stats contributing to the regular scoring categories, Defensive scoring bonus, even strength stats (G/A/P/Shutouts/etc.), primary assists (or a composite cat).

you are going super customization!
-
Brandon Eid commented
options should be customizable for scoring, but changes can only be made pre-draft. no scoring changes after draft, because it is not fair for everyone who joined and read the rules aka scoring system before joining your league

Would love to have the option for fractional points for field goals!

Hi, I would also like to see face-off percentage as a category or face-off plus/minus. Thank you.

Hi, I would also like to have shootout goals as a separate category. Thank you.
