The anger over this incident is understandable but its expression here is somewhat inappropriate. Putting that aside, Fred's experience is noteworthy; so, fellow subscribers, take notice; Yahoo Financial, take notice!
The number of choices that technology takes away from us has increased alarmingly. In general, the impetus for all tech automation is the benefit to commerce, companies, and sometimes authorities, not for direct (nor sometimes indirect) benefit of the end user. There is a single undeniable non-debatable problem with this.
It is that when developing the applications the controlling entities will forget about the customer, end-user, or citizen's perspective.
This is what happened here, presumably. Sometimes, there has to be a prompt with a choice.
Another possible factor would involve the differences in software licensing and autonomy between countries - but that is a separate issue. It would be smart for Yahoo to have some employees who are adept at authorizing every new development or change as to its user friendliness.
