Historical stock prices are misleading as a result of splits
Yahoo should stop retroactively changing historical stock data, or at least include better notice when researching historical prices, when a split is applied to historical data before the date of the split.
At the bottom of the page is:
Close price adjusted for splits.
*Adjusted close price adjusted for splits and dividend and/or capital gain distributions.
In fact, high and low prices and volumes are adjusted too. And, for example, it's the high/low prices that are used when determining value for estate tax purposes, which is often done months to many months after the decedent's death (in this case the 1324:1000 split on 4/11/2022 for AT&T ("T") affecting the January data). Misleading and time consuming. I cannot find a good reason why Yahoo does this.
