How to improve the comments algorithm
I have read and understand the community guidelines for commenting and always keep my Yahoo Finance posts civil and fact based. I do not use the message board to pump or bash companies. I mention news stories, company press releases, analyst reports and other factual research for purposes of discussion, but am careful not to violate copyright. Yet I still have some comments rejected because the algorithm is overly aggressive about policing comments. Most of the time, if I have a comment that's been rejected, it's reinstated on appeal. In rate instances when my appeal is rejected, I should be given an explanation. Also, while I'm fairly certain the algorithm "learns" to be more restrictive with users whose comments are flagged by others or are repeatedly rejected, I think it should also be less aggressive with users who have an established track record of comments and likes. As far as I can tell, the system is broken and Yahoo and its partner, OpenWeb, are not interested in fixing it. Some of the comments I've made that have been rejected are just baffling. Here's one I made today that was rejected and the appeal was also rejected. On March 2, 2024, user Marko asked "Does anybody see this company rebounding? Even if it jumped back to $1-$2 range." https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BU.TO/community On April 30, I pointed Marko to a press release issued that day by Stonegate Capital Partners. https://stonegateinc.reportablenews.com/pr/stonegate-initiates-coverage-on-burcon-nutrascience-corporation-tsx-bu I did not post the link. Here is what I wrote: "Hi Marko, in case you missed it Stonegate Capital Partners announced today they've initiated coverage of Burcon NutraScience with a price target of $1.82 to $2.30." That is a respectful, factual comment. It was rejected, and my appeal was rejected without explanation. I would also like to note that my previous attempts to provide feedback through this forum have been marked "REVIEWED" and "responded" by the Yahoo Finance Team. I have never received any response to my feedback, and I'm not sure why I'm still bothering.
