spam
Spam folder does not update item count until the folder is actually slected.
Since Yahoo has the habit of flagging my legit mail as spam (50% of what get flagged as spam is not), I need to know when I have new items in my spam folder. The count indicator does not update until after I've opened the folder for 10-20 seconds. So that means I need to manually check my spam box more often than my inbox so I don't miss mail.
This is basic functionality that was lost with the forced move to the "improved" interface.

I've been fighting this for a couple weeks. I posted the issue & it was merger with a "closed" issue that had nothing to do with randomly 80% of my emails going to spam. Even when I mark them "not spam" most end up back in the spam folder.
I've had my yahoo email for many years. it will be a royal pain to move to another provider, but if Yahoo doesn't fix it soon I'm out.

Seriously, I this issue needs to be fixed! I have marked emails from a very important address as not spam so many times I can no longer keep count and yet, emails from that address continue to go to spam. And worse yet, spam moves ALL emails from this address to my spam folder and I never get notification. So, I have to check my spam folder every single time I login to once again move all the messages back to my in box. Honestly, HOW DO I FIX THIS?!?!?!?!??? So annoying!! And, I suppose this makes me dumb as I have used yahoo mail since 2000. I guess it's time to switch to a different email service.

A company I deal with could not send me emails as they kept going to spam even after I marked them Not Spam. This 'system' does not work in the new Yahoo. I now have to check my spam folder the same way I check my main folder as too many important emails are missed otherwise. Come on Yahoo sort this out. It's already become a bit of a standing joke amongst my colleagues. Just use Yahoo if you don't want people to read an email but still like being able to show them 'Well here it is in my Sent box'.

Not only are emails from contacts being marked as spam when they are not, but there being no 'unread' count on that box means important emails are being missed.
Fix it please.

I've almost missed my job offer because of the spam filter. I miss other important emails due to that. It shows one email in my inbox and another one in the spam folder from the same email address. And the email does not contain any signs of spam email. It is just regular email with [my name] [content] and [footer]. How can spam filter(AI?) spam that?
And, marking every email "Not Spam" is no solution for that -

I repeatedly take an address as spam and mark as "not spam" but you never learn.

Spam message count not shown anymore and NEVER any response from Yahoo/Oath to problems. Seems to've went downhill when Oath took over. Wish I'd never started with them MANY years back.

I complained about this on twitter and they told me this was "as designed". Terrible, terrible design idea.

I don't see any count ever. Only way to know there is spam is to look in the folder.

I've just missed two important emails that had gone into the spam folder, because Yahoo isn't telling me that there are emails in my spam folder. These were both replies to emails I had sent so why would Yahoo think they were spam? I do not want to have to manually check the spam folder every time I check my email, just in case there is something hiding in there that Yahoo isn't telling me about. The old classic mail told me how many spam emails there were so I knew they were there.
Regarding a reply on another post saying to mark emails as not spam so that the system learns what is or isn't spam, I have been doing this for years but still get the same emails going into my spam folder. Now it seems to be worse as I don't recall replies to emails I had sent going into the spam folder before.
It's almost like you're trying to drive people away from using Yahoo mail. Is that the intention?

Totally agree. The spam folder should have a counter for the number of messages in it!

The feature of giving number of spam in that mailbox should be returned to Yahoo mail. As is it is inconvenient to have to remember to check spam mailbox every time I use Yahoo mail.

YES this VERY MUCH. I keep forgetting to check my spam folder cause its not showing me I have new messages in it

Also, why are so many of my non-spam messages going to "Spam" now? Please adjust the Yahoo algorithm for filtering for spam messages. Thanks.

I just missed two emails regarding phone interviews for a possible new job. Ahhh! Both emails went to "spam" and I had no idea they were there since the "improved" Yahoo email no longer shows a count of new spam messages next to the Spam folder name. Please, please do not require us to mouse more - to have to hover over the folder name to get the count of messages. No! I already have hand injuries and don't use a mouse! Please put back the count of the number of messages in Spam so we can see the count at a glance, without hovering the mouse. Thanks.

++ I find I have to *remember* to check spam regularly and consistently find non-spam mail in the spam folder. Even after designating mail from senders as not-spam, the next email from that sender often winds up in the spam folder. Whatever filtering is going on is pretty whack and not that much fun.

Please add back the indicator of how many items are in the Spam folder. It's a handy visual reminder to check the Spam, which invariably has non-Spam items in it.

This! I didn't move to the improved interface because of this. I should be able to see at a glance when I have new items in the Spam folder! The classic interface had an unread counter in the spam folder. Please "fix"!
