Dont delete an account for inactivity for one year
One year is small time frame to mark account for deletion give it 3 to 5 years.

Even though the account was not actively used within a year, your end can just deactivate it and given notification to user to reactive it (at least an alert) but so far no pre-alert and account was deactivated and deleted all our emails silently. Other providers even allow deleted account to be activated back with all emails within it. Now I reactivated back the account and found out all emails gone. This is really make no sense as email size is so small and yet Yahoo chose to delete it. If want to delete it, why still kept the email account? I hope Yahoo can really think about this and restore back all our emails .

I am so mad that I want to sue them! Why did they do that without even a warning??? This should be illegal. I would have paid anything for keeping my emails. Is it possible to recover them??? It's heartbreaking.

Now I know why I can't see anything in my inbox or files. Like others have already mentioned, there were messages from my mother who is no longer with us. I used my Yahoo account as a secondary address - if I had any idea my information was going to be wiped I would have saved or moved it. Why wouldn't you give a notification at least? I have my main email address in the account details. It's negligent to not let people know.

Yahoo is officially the shittiest email and media company out there. They deleted 16+ years of my personal emails, on top of pictures, videos and documents of passed relatives that i can never get back. in order to contact yahoo, you have to either jump through a billion bs hoops to get ahold of someone, OR pay $5Usd for premium service. ******** Yahoo, how's that for premium service? i hope you all go bankrupt. Glad i switched to Gmail for my main email

I have been a long time user of Yahoo and deleting an account for inactivity for one year is unacceptable; especially since that wasn't a condition when initially signing up. You're competing with Google who doesn't do that and you will lose business in the long run as a result. Deleting information just because you update terms and conditions (like we have a choice?) doesn't mean we "truly agree" to it. I can understand deleting after 5 years of inactivity; but not one year. Life happens. People end up getting an illness and then have to go into recovery, so they don't log in for a while. I can understand archiving and compressing inactive accounts; but deleting information is completely unacceptable. This brings a trust issue. You're telling me not to trust your service because you are in control of my information, my receipts, my login information, documents, etc. Gone, poof, forever!!! Not right, not fair!

This is an incredibly stupid idea, long term Yahoo user and now you've given me zero incentive to use Yahoo products ever again. Recover my email or delete my account, forever.

Yep, I'm in the same boat here. I created the yahoo account long ago, and my grandpa was a big yahoo mailbox user. He recently passed away and I wanted to gather his messages, but I come here today, and everything is simply gone...

I really hate Yahoo for deleting my account! I did not receive any warning before they did it. It's not like I never sign into my account. I just don't do it often enough, apparently. So ***** Yahoo! I'll keep using my ancient Hotmail and Gmail accounts. They have never done anything like this to me.

Dont delete an account for inactivity, it is very very worst idea and we are suffering a lot to recover the backup mails..I'm really frustrated.
Please be responsible on the user account and instead of deleting the mail, do archive. It would be better.
Please provide steps to recover the deleted mails. -

I am so mad! The account Yahoo took it upon themselves to delete was used for High School Reunion's. They don't happen every year. If I was notified it was going to be deleted I would have sent it an email. It has been 5 years since our last reunion. Now I will have to TRY to recreate this account. SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!
