Add an option to turn off AI summaries.
It might be useful for people with robust business-style accounts, but most of my messages are already short, or they're notifications. It makes the "summaries" redundant and obnoxious.

I agree with the other comments that AI should be an option that can be turned on or off. I don't need an AI summary of an e-mail that only says, "Thanks, I got the documents".

It is quite annoying for short emails to have to scroll past the AI Summary.
It would be nice to disable the summary, or allow the summary be collapsed (with a configuration property to set the default collapsed to be open/closed).

The option is buried way in the settings/privacy under an option that doesn't state "ai" but "smart". AI should not be automatically defaulted on emails. There is sensitive information.
Additionally, I have a story to tell. I didn't know Yahoo turned on AI. I read an email and saw at the top the summary, but it's not marked as AI. I thought it was the email, and it was instructing me that I had violated some rule on another site and my account would be closed. It took a long while before I realized this was not the actual email. It contracticted what was below it, but I thought it was a follow-up to the email below it. The summary was absolutely WRONG.
Then it took too long to figure out how to turn it off.
1. Do not automatically enable AI in emails. Create a popup to ask permission. Consent is everything.
2. Transparency. If it's AI, label it AI.
3. In addition to burying it deep in settings, have an option on the main email page to disable it.Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

I have private emails. I never gave Yahoo authorization to use AI features to read confidential information. Please include options to turn this invasive tool off.

A.I.-generated summary inside of the message is confusing. I've got what looks like a scam that made it past the spam filters, but the A.I. summary is making it look extra legitimate. I'm not so lazy or illiterate that I can't read a short message myself and comprehend what it's about. This automatic A.I. summary needs to go, and only happen on-demand.

Sometimes being able to see the email subject is CRITICAL, but instead I see an A.I.-generated summary in the listing which is sometimes confusing because I'm looking for SPECIFIC subjects with my EYES, then everything is so BLOATED in the message view that I'm having difficulty seeing what is actually part of the message and which is A.I.-generated GARBAGE.

HI Megan, we will merge your thread with the main thread on AI Summaries. This is not available yet on desktop settings, only the app settings. We have shared this with the team about adding this to desktop settings as well. Stay tuned!

I got a summary of an email from my bank. The summary said there was a deposit to my account of $1,000. I wasn't expecting a deposit. So I went down a rabbit hole, calling my bank etc., trying to figure out where on earth that came from, before I finally realized that "$1,000" was from Yahoo's summary, even though no dollar amount was quoted in the original email. I have no idea where the AI came up with "$1,000." So I wasted a bunch of time, and so did my bank. Not cool.

The recap of the email. I don't want it.

There already is supposedly a button to turn off AI summaries. But it doesn't work. Please make it work! THEY ARE HATEFUL AND ANNOYING!

Yahoo mail was so simple. It is now the opposite. Please offer a "disable AI summary." Make the option at the forefront of the UI to toggle it on and off. Some people may like it eventually. It is now just a productivity reducer.

For me, use of AI summaries is useless, just annoying.

The AI-generated recaps and subject lines are not helpful, and often take more time to parse and validate than just reading the email. And they're environmentally wasteful on top.
I won't continue using the service if I can't turn off AI-generated recaps and subject lines -- even though I have literally decades of use of this email address. I didn't ask for it and don't want it.

Generative AI is inherently wasteful in terms of energy/the environment and forcing your users to participate in it automatically is a practice that I will be boycotting. I was able to switch back to "Basic Yahoo Mail" (which also seems less intuitive than the Yahoo mail that existed before today's horrid update), and this does not appear include AI. That said, gen AI features should NOT be the default (personally, I don't think Yahoo or any mail service should have gen AI at all). If Yahoo forces AI upon it's users I will be sure to find another e-mail service.

I can read an email. I don't need an AI summary. It's just in the way when I want to get to the actual email. I agree: please create an option for turning off the AI summaries.

HI Andrew, ah you are referring to AI Summaries in our emails. We will merge your feedback in the right thread. Yes, we have this Setting in our app where you can disable Summaries, but we haven't brought it to Desktop yet. We will share your feedback with the team. Thanks!

The instructions do not work to remove dynamic messages. I am using the new KB article and following instructions, but that is still coming up. I DO NOT WANT YAHOO TO READ MY EMAILS FOR ME.

I don't want any AI summaries, I need an opt out option, they are a waste of time and space and are unnecessary and highly annoying

Yesss I hate these. I want to read what the person sent. Its not like I can reasonably respond to whatever AI said, I'll have to read the email anyway. The AI overview doesnt even pull out the most important parts, because surprise surprise, IT DOESNT KNOW WHATS IMPORTANT AND RELEVANT TO ME SPECIFICALLY
Its a worthless addition that makes our lives harder, not easier

Please stop wasting electricity for generating trash over the most important part of my screen! I want to read my emails, not to see AI exercises there.
