Autosave glitch in Drafts
While working on a draft from the Drafts folder, about once per minute I get bounced to the next draft in the list in mid-typing.
I believe this might be triggered by autosave, as it doesn't seem to occur when I haven't made any changes.

This has been fixed! If you see this happening, please create a new thread and provide us with your browser and browser version so our team can try and replicate the issue. Thanks!

I have lost Drafts 3 times since the newest Yahoo! email was updated. It seems my hand brushes the touch pad, the screen reloads, and they're gone. Once they disappear, I can no longer find them in any folder. This has been very frustrating.

If you want to reproduce the bug, you can place many drafts in the draft folder, then wait for a few days, then edit the oldest draft (my draft folder has hundreds of incomplete drafts with different dates, when editing the older drafts, the bug would show up, particularly when the new yahoo mail tries to update the date of a draft). No matter what, it is always better to put any deleted mail or draft in the Trash, instead of letting it to disappear completely without providing a means to recover.

It was mentioned on March 15 that the issue was fixed, but it is not fixed. I had this auto draft deletion on March 25, and I did not use backspace key or hit delete at all. The draft simply disappeared on its own.
I am not sure if it could be because the draft was saved a while ago, and today during the edit, the new yahoo mail needed to move this old draft to the top of the draft folder (since the date of that old draft needed to be changed to the most current date), then this process hit some bug in the new yahoo mail, and the draft got completely lost.
My reasoning is based on my observation that the disappearance of the draft happened when the old draft was being moved to the top of the draft folder. (I observed the same pattern during the two cases when I lost two long drafts, painful losses since the drafts are completely lost with no way to recover.)

It seems I am not the only victim subjecting to this bug, others encountered same issue. Why would you guys design something that auto delete drafts without having a safe guard to put the deleted in the Trash???

I read on this board that someone said hitting the Delete would get the draft lost, but I did not recall accidentally hitting delete at all. The draft, which was saved a few days ago, suddenly disappeared on its own when I was editing it again. Even if it is an accidental delete, you want to put that deleted draft in the Trash folder so that you can recover. But for my case, two long drafts got completely lost, in the same unexpected pattern. And this same bug happened twice within a month already, after I was forced to use the new version. That really really sucks. For the older version yahoo mail I did not experience such an issue at all (having been using yahoo mail for many years), even in the accidental delete case I could recover the lost from the Trash. But the new yahoo mail even does not have this basic safeguard.

We are seeing more and more feedback and reports on this. Yes, we are aware of the issue and we are working on a fix. Thank you for your patience!

I've had two draft emails disappear on me in the past week or so while I'm in the middle of editing them. It is incredibly frustrating to lose work this way (poof, it's gone!.... grrrr). I see others here have noted it happens when they use the backspace key (and that it's now fixed???). I'm uncertain if it's at the moment I've used the backspace key, although I'm definitely using the backspace key when editing. [Yahoo! We will certainly try and replicate the issue. So far no luck. We need more info, like..
1. Did the page just randomly refresh? Was there a key that you might have hit that refreshed it? A keyboard shortcut?
2. Yes, once a draft is deleted, you cannot get it back. This is why we need as much info and steps. WE can't replicate.
3. About how many drafts did you have?
4. What browser are you using and what's the version? -

I was making changes to a new draft and my screen refreshed for some reason and I lost all my business drafts from 2020 to 2025. All gone. My top draft is now 7/11/2020 and it is March of 2025 now. I could not have highlighted this many drafts and delete them in a second like this. I don't think Yahoo can retrieve them They don't even want to talk about it. I sent the retrieve note to them as well a day ago. Hate that new mail, just hate it. So hard to use it now. They hide stuff. They don't tell me how many drafts I have like before. I switched back but that will loose all the formatting. Be careful with this new mail. It stinks and will delete stuff that you value. I have been with them since 1998.

Thanks Sandy, we appreciate the elaborate information. Makes it easier to try and replicate the issue. We will try and replicate and see what's going on. Stay tuned!
