Return to Classic Mail
Go back to the original Yahoo. This is terrible. Why do I have to click on the 3 dots on the bottom to get the Spam and Trash Folders. They should be on the top with the icons for inbox, etc.

The latest update to Yahoo Mail has significantly reduced functionality, making it more difficult for users to manage their emails efficiently. This update was rolled out without an option to revert to the previous version, removing essential features that were integral to an effective email system.
Key Issues with the New Version:- Drag-and-Drop Email Organization Removed. The ability to drag and drop emails into folders is no longer available. This is a fundamental feature that all major email providers, including Gmail, still support. Organizing emails should be intuitive and efficient, not require extra steps or workarounds.
- Folders Are Difficult to Access – The default setting for Folders should be expanded or allow users to set their preference. Currently, folders are hidden in a small dropdown modal popup, displaying only five at a time without scrolling. This makes organizing and accessing stored emails unnecessarily tedious.
- Back Button and Hotkeys No Longer Work Properly – Attempting to use the back button or keyboard shortcuts (such as Backspace) now results in a "Page expired or does not exist" error. This disrupts workflow and forces users to re-navigate manually.
- Slower, Less Responsive Interface – The new design feels sluggish and bloated, making even simple tasks like opening, moving, or deleting emails take longer than before.
- Unreadable UI and Poor Design Choices – Readability has become more difficult due to changes in styling, text size, and excessive white space. While each email is now boxed in within the inbox, it has ironically made emails harder to scan while taking up more space on the screen. The compact but easy-to-navigate layout from the classic version has been removed, forcing a design that is inefficient for managing large volumes of emails.
- Missing Date-Based Email Separation – The inbox and folders no longer separate emails by day, week, and year. This made it much easier to organize and locate emails in previous versions, but now everything is displayed as one continuous list with no clear grouping.
- Forced "Priority" Inbox Default – Yahoo Mail now defaults to the "Priority" tab, yet users have no control over what is considered "Priority." There is no transparency in how Yahoo determines this, and it often misclassifies emails.
- Users should be able to set their own default tab, such as "All," but this option is currently unavailable. AI or algorithm-driven sorting should not override a user’s actual email preferences.
- Basic Mail is Even Worse – Yahoo’s Basic Mail mode, which was previously a fallback option for users who preferred simplicity, now has even fewer features and is nearly unusable. It lacks key functions, making it an ineffective alternative and only adding to user frustration and confusion.
- Limited Customization – Previous versions of Yahoo Mail allowed users to adjust layouts and personalize their experience. The new update removes these options, forcing a one-size-fits-all interface that does not meet everyone’s needs.
- Increase in Ads – Ads have become more intrusive, negatively impacting the user experience and overall performance. Even users with paid subscriptions have reported seeing more ads than before.
Yahoo should consider a revert to any of the previous versions that provided a more functional and user-friendly experience.
At the very least, basic email management features—such as drag-and-drop functionality, proper navigation controls, compact and readable email layouts, the ability to set a default tab, persistent folder visibility, and date-based email separation—should be restored to ensure efficiency and ease of use.
Many users rely on Yahoo Mail for daily communication, and updates should enhance, not hinder, productivity.

I cannot find all of my folders any longer. They are simply not available. If we had Yahoo before 2024, my understanding is that we are supposed to have the ability to return to the original format, but that is certainly not available to me, although I have had Yahoo for over 2 decades! Furthermore, it took almost a month for Yahoo to even offer me this format to express my displeasure, and you have no recourse unless you want to pay, to speak to customer service. That is ludicrous!

BTW, we can keep voting all day. Problem is they don't give a **** and are not going to revert back. They obviously don't give a rat's *** about their customers.

I have said now this is Google..... I was wrong, Gmail is better now. They let you see all your folders: trash, spam, etc and have a number by how many new emails are in your inbox. Yahoo what are you waiting for to give us the option to change back? A certain amount of complaints? A certain amount of people to leave? What?

I absolutely despise the appearance and functionality of the new version. Why the heck are some of my messages in grey shaded background and others are not? The weird shading thing alone is so distracting that I can barely stand to look at my inbox. It's just absolutely awful, and if it isn't fixed, I'll be using another account by another provider.

New version is confusing and difficult to use. I have missed several important emails since the changeover simply because I did not see them. Much too complicated. New features are appreciated but should be implemented gradually. I have used Yahoo as my primary email for around 20 years, but now must consider changing due to not being able to have a clear presentation of emails and their status.
