Return to Classic Mail
Go back to the original Yahoo. This is terrible. Why do I have to click on the 3 dots on the bottom to get the Spam and Trash Folders. They should be on the top with the icons for inbox, etc.

Subject: Furious Complaint – Yahoo Mail’s Update is a Disaster
Dear Yahoo Support Team,
I cannot believe I have to write this email, but here we are. What on earth were you thinking? Not only have you stripped away themes, one of Yahoo Mail’s BEST features, but you’ve also forced a slow, cluttered, and infuriating interface onto users with no way to opt-out.
For years, I stuck with Yahoo Mail because it allowed customization giving me control over how my inbox looked and functioned. Now? You’ve replaced it with a bland, uninspired, and frankly ugly interface that no one asked for. Why would you remove features that actually improved usability? Themes weren’t just about aesthetics they helped with organization, visibility, and user comfort. Now, I’m left staring at a sterile, personality-less inbox that makes using Yahoo Mail a miserable experience.
To make matters worse, this update has introduced:
Sluggish performance – Emails take longer to load, impacting productivity.
A confusing layout – Basic navigation has become frustrating and inefficient.
More intrusive ads – Further cluttering the experience while ignoring real user concerns.
No option to revert to the old version – Forcing this change without choice is unacceptable.
This is a complete failure of user experience. Instead of improving Yahoo Mail, you have actively made it worse and instead of listening to users, you are forcing unnecessary changes down our throats.Let me be crystal clear: I want my themes back. I want control over how my inbox looks. If Yahoo is going to remove features people love, then at the very least, you must allow users to revert to the old interface.
If themes aren’t restored and performance issues aren’t addressed, I will have no choice but to switch to an email provider that actually respects its users. And judging by the sheer volume of complaints online, I’m far from the only one thinking this way.
Fix this. Listen to your users. Bring back themes. Stop making Yahoo Mail worse.
Waiting (impatiently) for your response.
Sincerely,
-

This is awful, I cannot even scroll down in the body of an email, it simply shifts to the prior email notification, WTF?

Hey Yahoo, if you want to hire me to help you guys fix your product by making a simple email service that everyone actually likes I'd be open to negotiations. I have some great ideas. Let me know.
In the meantime you guys should read up on:
___________________________________________
Here's a great quote from Steve Jobs about what happens when technology companies, and especially ones with a monopoly, pivot from being product-driven to sales-driven.“The technology crashed and burned at Xerox. Why? I learned more about this with John Sculley later on. What happens is, John came from Pepsico. And they—at most—would change their product once every 10 years. To them, a new product was a new sized bottle. So if you were a ‘product person’, you couldn’t change the course of that company very much. So, who influences the success at Pepsico? The sales and marketing people. Therefore they were the ones that got promoted, and they were the ones that ran the company.
Well, for Pepsico that might have been okay, but it turns out the same thing can happen at technology companies that get monopolies. Like IBM and Xerox. If you were a ‘product person’ at IBM or Xerox: so you make a better copier or better computer. So what? When you have a monopoly market-share, the company’s not any more successful. So the people who make the company more successful are the sales and marketing people, and they end up running the companies. And the ‘product people’ get run out of the decision-making forums.
The companies forget how to make great products. The product sensibility and product genius that brought them to this monopolistic position gets rotted out by people running these companies who have no conception of a good product vs. a bad product. They have no conception of the craftsmanship that’s required to take a good idea and turn it into a good product. And they really have no feeling in their hearts about wanting to help the costumers.”
___________________________________________The worst part of this particular case is that Yahoo is actually trying to imitate the monopoly which has everything wrong with it. That isn't what is going to make your service better or drive long-term growth in your company. The people have spoken.

As of today 1500+ comments wanting to go back to the Classic version and no way to do it!. Do you think you might have screwed up forcing this on everyone?? Look at all the other "ideas" - no have anywhere near the number of comments. Apparently you got tired of deleting all this stuff from the original feedback page and had to direct all your dissatisfied users here where apparently you intend to ignore them.

Like all the others chiming in the new version of mail is terrible at best. It's sad when a company gets this many complaints and does nothing to help it's loyal customers. The good thing is this is a sign that they will not be around much longer and someone who does care will take over the company.

This new version is horrible. ******* the eyes and too confusing. No choices to change the color. Too hard to go thru the emails I get lost in the emails...I, too, want to go back to the Classic Version. The emails when opened don't even fit on the page correctly. There's more but don't want to keep going on about how awful Yahoo email is now. Change it back!!!

Why the **** do you think Yahoo lasted since 1997? It certainly wasn't waiting for some Gen Z to come in and change it to Gmail. Enough Yahoo give us the ability to get the classic version back, and you there in N.Y. use this garbage at Yahoo headquarters.

Return to the older version - much more user friendly. My contact list has been affected and many contacts have been LOST!!!! also, the inbox and spam folders should appear as part of the view - not having to use a drop-down screen to access. This version is just awful - GO BACK to the previous version. SHAME on yahoo!

Where is my complete list of contacts???? Several have been "lost" in this horrible new version of yahoo email. If you cannot update the system for the better - then DON'T MESS WITH IT. Give everyone the option of "going back" to the older version - this new one is just awful and it a step BACK - not forward. SHAME on yahoo for making email more difficult!!!

If people wanted to use a cheap Google imitation they would have already switched to Google. Are you guys trying to make your users jump ship? We all stayed with Yahoo all of these years for a reason and it was because it WASN'T LIKE GOOGLE here. Your priority folder is a total shot in the dark at prioritizing people's emails. It just does not work and I don't want a priority folder or automatic sorting at all! You guys are just making everyone miss all of their emails and have to spend more time clicking around. Is that the point? To generate more traffic through clicks? Do you guys use a test audience to screen these updates before forcing them upon your core users? I don't get how this decision came to pass, especially the fact that you can't default to the ALL inbox as the main inbox still. Just how? Please revert back to the classic version! Thank you.
I think the most ridiculous thing of all with this new update is that you can't view all the email metadata(sender's email address, recipient's email address, EMAIL TIMESTAMPS) all at once. What the heck is the point of the email then? I have to print/convert the whole page to a pdf to see the most essential information, or I can waste my time and hover over each individual element one by one. I guess simple email screenshots are obsolete here at Yahoo.
In the current version I have to switch to basic mail to draft a message, then revert back to the junky new version to add attachments THEN switch back to basic mail again to make sure everything looks alright. This is such a waste of time.
The awful Gmail idiosyncrasies- like hiding signatures and sign offs if they are too similar to previously used ones, therefore making users occasionally miss crucial information and/or cutting people's messages short without them asking for it are unacceptable. That's the only reason I haven't completely stopped using Yahoo.

why wasn't there a "Return to Classic Yahoo" option available? Yahoos choices were either black or white and both are ******* the eyes. Where's the shades of grey option and choice of different colors? Yahoo doesNOT know my preferences and to NOT give me the options is very Microsoft of you.

selecting go back to basic mail does not go back to classic yahoo mail. Only a portion of the unread mail is displayed and the rest cut off. cannot find. the action button does not work. The select and move function does not work so mail is stuck there and other mail unread cannot be read. it really need to be fixed so people can read their email in basic or classic email format.

I DO NOT LIKE sites that decide just what I "want" to see or how to change the format to use them. I WANT THAT CHOICE MYSELF! Just like openweb with its ultra puritanical censorship of words NOT being used in an offensive way yet trying to appeal the "decision", made by an obviously substandard AI program, that the AI takes out of context. Your "decisions are fast making me want to find a new provider.
