Too much cognitive overload, not enough personalization preferences
1) be able to disable the logo avatars next to emails, this is unnecessary visual noise and makes scanning the inbox for a senders name difficult
2) when selecting an email I would prefer a split screen view (much like you see in desktop clients) so that users can stay oriented to where they are vs moving to a full screen take over.. too many clicks and friction to read and interact with message
3) option to hide pre-headers. The subject line is typically enough to understand the email content. The additional preheader also add cognitive load, complicates the inbox view and makes it difficult to scan.
4) Ability to expand the left rail so that the full name of folders is visible for those who prefer that and rather subject lines truncate.
Overall the mail experience is over-design and over-wrought without enough customer benefit. I can't imagine that this is actually improved (having never used the old version). My email provider migrated to Yahoo mail, if I had a choice i would not use this service due to how overwhelming it is to use with little to no accessibility customization. I feel angry checking email now.
