Bring back one-click "Mark as Read" from the unread indicator
First of all, I'd like to say that the new Yahoo Mail UI looks fantastic. It's modern, clean, intuitive, and feels like a significant improvement over the previous version. I really appreciate the effort your team has put into enhancing the overall user experience.
However, there's one feature from the old UI that I truly miss.
Previously, users could simply click/tap the unread indicator (blue dot/circle) next to an email to instantly toggle it between Read and Unread without opening the email. This was an extremely quick and efficient way to triage an inbox.
In the current UI, marking emails as read requires either:
Opening each email individually, or
Selecting one or multiple emails and then choosing Mark as Read.
"This increases the number of clicks"
My suggestion: Please bring back the ability to click the unread indicator to instantly toggle an email's read/unread status. It was a simple but incredibly useful interaction that reduced clicks and made inbox management much faster.
Everything else about the new interface is a pleasure to use. Restoring this one functionality would make the experience even better and would preserve one of the most efficient interactions from the previous version. Thank you for building such a great redesign, and I hope you'll consider bringing this feature back
Hi there, yes clicking on the purple dot, opens the email, but you can still mark an email as unread without opening it or multi-selecting.
When looking at your Inbox, hover over the email and a set of icons will appear to the right. One of them is the unread icon. Thanks!
