1. Fix the state referenced in the transgender child article summary

   The summary on the main yahoo.com news page says "Minnesota" is attempting to ban gender affirming care which is incorrect. The article text correctly references "Missouri" as the state attempting to ban gender affirming care. Minnesota and Missouri are different states.
   Minnesota is doing the opposite making sure that gender affirming care is available for all from medical providers.
   This is the article with the incorrect summary.

   I am using a cell phone plan as my Internet provider and it has limited amount of data at high speed. I am going to switch to another news source because you are wasting my data by allowing advertisers to autoplay video ads. Your autoplay videos are also a problem.

8. Allow us to multiple messages at once so that patterns of harassment abuse can be seen by moderators

   Reporting posts for things like repetitive harassment posting doesn't seem to work, because by reporting individual messages, moderators cant see the patterns.

   There is one poster in particular who is using mutliple nicknames to repeat the same harassment on an article, and tehey've made appx. 100 posts of this harassment, but all reporting individual posts did was close down one nickname and let them transfer to another nickname to repeat the same harassment posts. We should have a way to provide examples of this type of harassment to the moderation staff so that they can block IP addresses of these repeat offenders.

9. Why do you persist in posting OLD News? This happens in a variety of topics including but not limited to Sports, Politics, Weather, etc.

   Here is an example: You post a "Tornado Warning" on March 23rd. That warning was for Tuesday, March 21st! This happens all the time on Yahoo News. Please do something about this! It is ridiculous and shabby reporting.

    I hate the big "360 Perspective" box that takes up space at the top right. Also, it w/b nice to add the same kind of extension Google News has - called "Good News" to disable seeing some topics. The page is not pleasing to the eye.

    Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) has amended his 12-point Rescue America plan to say that his proposal to sunset all federal legislation in five years does not apply to Social Security, Medicare or the U.S. Navy.

    After taking relentless fire from President Biden, Democrats and even fellow Republicans, Scott has amended Point Six of his plan, which includes the sunset proposal, to make “specific exceptions of Social Security, Medicare, national security, veterans benefits, and other essential services.”

    “Note to President Biden, Sen. Schumer and Sen. McConnell — As you know, this was never intended to apply to Social Security, Medicare, or the U.S. Navy,” Scott states in bolded language, addressing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (**.).

    In an op-ed published Friday in The Washington Examiner, Scott said Democratic leaders and McConnell played “gotcha politics” with his plan.

    “I have never supported cutting Social Security or Medicare, ever. To say otherwise is a disingenuous Democrat lie from a very confused president. And [McConnell] is also well aware of that. It’s shallow gotcha politics, which is what Washington does,” Scott wrote.

    “Everyone outside of Washington perfectly understood what my plan was trying to accomplish, but that hasn’t stopped Washington politicians from doing what they do best — lying to you every chance they get. So, since the folks up here are clearly too confused and disingenuous to get it, I’ll put it down in black and white so they can read it, or have someone read it to them,” he added.

    Biden targeted Scott’s plan at his State of the Union address when he claimed, “some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset every five years,” drawing boos and jeers from GOP lawmakers in the House chamber.

    Scott doubled down on his proposal to sunset all federal programs, insisting in a statement the day after Biden’s speech: “This is clearly and obviously an idea aimed at dealing with all the crazy new laws our Congress has been passing of late.”

    McConnell then on Tuesday disavowed that Senate Republicans would support cuts to Medicare and Social Security as part of negotiations to raise the debt limit — or any time.

    “It continues to come up. The president was talking about it in the State of the Union,” he told reporters. “So let me say it one more time: There is no agenda on the part of Senate Republicans to revisit Medicare or Social Security. Period.”

    McConnell and his allies blamed Scott’s plan, which he unveiled last year as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, for muddling the party’s message in the midterm elections.

    Social Security benefits stand as a central pillar in many American retirement plans. In fact, the program provides benefits to 50 million retired workers and their dependents, according to the Social Security Administration.

    But for many folks, relying on Social Security benefits feels risky. The Social Security Administration has previously stated that its various trust accounts will run out in 2035. After that, it could continue to fund 80% of benefits.

    That's because lawmakers decided to end a pandemic-era program in December's omnibus.

    Now, some Republicans want to limit the program even more, the Washington Post reports.

    As Republicans grapple with spending cuts, it appears they're now setting their sights on major changes to food stamp requirements.

    Since the GOP took control over the House, a host of areas to cut spending have been floated around the chambers of Congress to include in a potential deal to raise the debt ceiling. The Washington Post first reported on Thursday that Republicans are now looking to include cuts to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance program (SNAP) in their proposals to reduce the deficit, particularly by enforcing strengthened work requirements and reduction in benefits.

    The potential reductions come as millions of recipients are already bracing for a steep cut in benefits. Come March, a pandemic-era expansion of SNAP is set to wind down, leaving 16 million Americans to lose an average $82 a month in grocery spending. That expansion brought all SNAP recipients to the maximum benefit level; traditionally, the amount recipients receive is income tested, with funds allocated based on their earnings. Those previously eligible for the maximum amount in benefits also received an additional $95 a month.

    But lawmakers stipulated in the December omnibus bill that the emergency allotments would wind down in March, even as food prices remain high. For some Americans, especially older ones on fixed incomes, that means $258 will evaporate for their monthly food budgets. Simone Parent, a 56-year-old SNAP recipient who's taking a $135 monthly hit, told Insider that she doesn't know what she's going to do once the cuts come.

    Now, some Republican legislators want to make SNAP eligibility requirements even more stringent.

    Five GOP lawmakers, including Rep. Matt Gaetz and Rep. Lauren Boebert, wrote a letter to President Joe Biden last week urging him to "enact work requirements as a feature of welfare reform."

    "Structural reforms to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will better position funding for people in need while incentivizing able-bodied people to return to the workforce," they wrote. "These incentives will prevent the condemnation of SNAP beneficiaries to a life of dependency; instead, incentives will restore their dignity."

    The GOP House Budget Committee also signaled last week that SNAP was on their list of areas in which they would support spending cuts — they wrote in a press release that placing work requirements on SNAP would save "tens of billions of dollars," along with requiring income verification for the program.

    GOP attacks on food stamps are not new — in 2020, former President Donald Trump tried to end the benefits for nearly 700,000 unemployed Americans, which a federal judge struck down alongside an opinion that stated it would leave "States scrambling and exponentially increasing food insecurity for tens of thousands of Americans."

    Democratic lawmakers are unlikely to be on board with the Republicans' proposal to cut benefits. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, told the Post that she would "not support bureaucratic requirements that only serve as obstacles to people getting the help they need to get back on their feet."

    Meanwhile, Parent, who's already facing an immediate reduction in her benefits, is preparing for hunger pains come March.

    "We're all human. We all deserve to be treated the same," she said.
