Rosters/Lineups - Roster limits for positions.
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 QBs on their roster or a team can have a minimum of 1 kicker. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

One hole in your argument, for public leagues, Yahoo! assigns players randomly to the league. They have some basic edits in place to prevent players from teaming up as you describe.

I am an off duty cop and have exposed a scam in your league. It is not about money. It is about wrecking and cheating the honest managers in your league. It involves a team of scammers and this is how it happpens;
1) A group of 3-5 scammers will join a league that is about to draft (you need to also hide who can draft with them. Assign a league randomly like in other Non-Yahoo leagues.) They are in communication together.
2) One or two of those teams have an assignment. To draft all the QBs in the league. These teams are prepared to lose, but are designed to wreck the league. They will grab Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning etc. This is why you need to set a 2 QB limit for any Yahoo Fantasy Football Team.
3) The other team, and it can be more than one, will build a dominant team concentrating on the Packers WR1s, RB1s etc. They don't need to draft a QB. They will put Sam Bradford or any other QB on their roster to hide what they are doing.
4) After the draft is over, the teams who drafted all the QB1s will trade Aaron Rodgers to the scammer teams who have now created a Super Bowl dominant team. They will crush every other team in the league who did not grab their QB early,
5) I have caught this scam in at least 6 Yahoo Leagues and the scammers have confessed to me. Email me at Timecop007@aol.com and I will give you the Yahoo Leagues and their ID numbers.

No other games on Yahoo! have this restriction. You can have 10 QBs or 10 RPs in baseball or 10 G's in Hockey if you want.

ex: a team can't exceed 2 QB's

allowing private leagues to set position limits is the standard operating procedure in almost all fantasy sites.... except for arrogant Yahoo that is.

Include an option in the Commish Tools to set the maxium roster spots allowed by position. Other fantasy formats have this feature which discourages hoarding. It could easily be added to the Edit Roster Settings page as another column of numerical drop-down menus.

Another excellent suggestion. Every other FF site allows the commish in private leagues to set roster limits by position. At least let us set maximums and minimums for IDPs vs offensive positions.
Once again, Yahoo is decades behind the times. I really don't know why I keep coming back to Yahoo. I guess it's because it is free.
As the old saying goes...you get what you pay for. In this case, an antiquated platform for fantasy football leagues.

Fantasy football is about adding another level of enjoyment to a game we love. Different folks want/find enjoyable different formats/features.
To criticize someone for having different likes than your own is a bit self-centered at best. There are all sorts of formats - "Best ball" for example that limit the "risks". Some folks like it. As the original poster pointed out, there is not much difference here than having "Team defense" as a category.
For me personally, I say no thanks. But Yahoo adding a format that allowed a league to designate "Team" rather than individual players for any (or all) positions would hurt no one, should not be hard to implement, and might add more enjoyment for some folks. I don't see a problem.

I agree with Anonymous. The Commish needs to take charge in a situation like that. I am a Commish on several teams each year and I would do so if we set such a rule. I have not though. I don't because if teams are hogging all the QBs, then they are missing out on other good players. If the point system is adjusted to be more even, then this should not be an issue.

No, I think not. Might as well just draft "team" QB, team RB, team WR, team TE etc. Best/worst part of Fantasy football is getting ****** that you started the wrong guy....again!
