Team QB / TQB
Dear Yahoo Fantasy Sports Product Team,
I am the Chairman of the Fantasy Football Club in The Villages (FFCTV) in Florida. Our club currently has 44 managers competing across four conferences, and Yahoo Fantasy Football is our common platform. next year we will likely double in size.
We strongly prefer to remain with Yahoo because approximately 90% of our managers already have experience with Yahoo Fantasy Football. However, there is one feature we would very much like to see added for the 2027 season:
Team Quarterback (TQB)
I am requesting that Yahoo add Team Quarterback (TQB) as a roster position, similar to the Team Quarterback position already offered by other major fantasy platforms.
The concept is simple:
If a manager drafts Buffalo QB, that manager owns the Buffalo NFL team's quarterback position, rather than one individual quarterback.
For example:
Josh Allen plays → his fantasy points count.
Josh Allen is injured → Buffalo's replacement QB automatically counts.
The replacement QB is injured → the next Buffalo QB automatically counts.
The manager never has to acquire or designate the replacement quarterback.
This is fundamentally different from simply allowing two QB roster spots.
Why I believe Yahoo should add TQB
One of the biggest frustrations in fantasy football is losing a starting quarterback to injury. The manager did nothing wrong, yet suddenly has to compete on the waiver wire to find the injured player's replacement.
A Team QB position eliminates that problem.
It:
Reduces the impact of injuries that managers cannot control.
Eliminates the need to predict which backup quarterback will eventually play.
Prevents managers from having to scramble to acquire a backup after an injury.
Makes the QB position simpler and easier for less-experienced fantasy managers.
Creates a more consistent and team-oriented fantasy experience.
Keeps the emphasis on managing a fantasy team rather than simply getting lucky with backup-quarterback availability.
Yahoo already has the technology concept
This request seems particularly logical because Yahoo introduced the Team OFF (Team Offense) roster position in 2026.
Team OFF demonstrates that Yahoo already supports the concept of assigning fantasy value to an NFL team rather than an individual player.
TQB would simply apply that concept specifically to the quarterback position.
In other words:
OFF = an NFL team's entire offense
TQB = an NFL team's quarterback position
I am not suggesting that TQB replace the existing individual QB position. I am asking that Yahoo make Team QB an additional roster-position option that commissioners can choose, just as commissioners can choose other roster configurations.
Why this matters to our club
FFCTV is trying to build a consistent, fair and transparent fantasy football structure across all four of our conferences.
We have intentionally chosen Yahoo as our common platform because of its familiarity, ease of use and widespread adoption among our managers.
We would very much like to continue using Yahoo. Adding TQB would give our club another reason to remain with the platform rather than having to consider other fantasy platforms that already provide this option.
I also believe this feature could appeal to many other Yahoo leagues that want to reduce the disproportionate impact of quarterback injuries.
If Yahoo has a formal feature-request or voting process, I would appreciate having this suggestion placed into that system so other Yahoo Fantasy users can support it.
Thank you for considering this request. I hope Yahoo will consider adding Team Quarterback (TQB) as a commissioner-selectable roster position for the 2027 fantasy football season.
Sincerely,
Dave Cowan
