Well, things need to be paid, and they do give an option to go "pro" without advertizing. Just the amount of money per month is excessive, for there is no way that they get that much income from ads on non-paying users. As for reasoning, you might like to reed:

Don't require users to whitelist you, use what data you can scrape to sell to your customers.

How come you have to go through ads before reading your email; then if you have an adblocker your mailbox becomes more sluggish than a slug?
Then I opt for the wide format and is only good for one session?
C'mon Yahoo . . . I thought you were better than this. -

I am just waiting for the day someone will start a campaign for mass cancellation of yahoo e-mails. Yahoo has always had outdated news, style, technology, and now is showing to also be tone-deaf. How long is Yahoo going to keep the stupid pop-up in the hopes someone will pay for their sub-par email service??!!!!

Stop preventing me from reading my email by asking me to whitelist your stupid ads.
