How to Keep Folders Expanded? Here's How:
I read all of the responses about the expanded folders. It is not functioning the way you described it. How do we keep the folders expanded even while going through emails, etc. I need them to stay expanded! All of the time!

It is difficult to find the double arrows to expand folders so that should be easier, but I finally did but there are still problems with it
1) Once you choose to keep the folders expanded they should always stay that way.
2) Expanding the folders actually doesn't help much because they are only on half of the screen instead of all the way down the page. They should show/scroll down the entire page and not just a small section of the page.
3) You can't see the full name of the folders.
4)You have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the dots for the spam and trash etc which is so much extra work. At the very least those dots with that access should be at the top not the bottom. But really we should be able to have the option and decide which ones we want on the main screen vs hidden. For example I could not care less about "starred" which you decided should be shown, I want to remove that and see spam and trash folders. -

SHOW ALL FOLDERS BY DEFAULT:
this idea is marked as completed, but it did not, I should click on "Folders" button, to see list of folders, please make it optional, that user can set to make them visible always. and make it ASAP. it is basic functionality, and you UX/UI team should understand that this feature is must have

why do i have to open the folders every time i login? used to have all of the individual folders showing. when you do open them now, they cover half of the inbox . how is it companies make their products worse when they "improve" them?

I create a lot of folders, and folders within folders. Since I can no longer resize the folder panel, finding a specific folder is a brutal exercise in frustration. Made things harder.

Some standard folders, like Trash and Spam, are now hidden inside the ellipsis. If I have my Folders expanded, I have to close it before I can get to Spam folder. Overall, I want to be able to quickly get to Trash and Spam. You just added more work.

Can't see complete folder name because folder pane is now smaller than it was, even when expanded.
In addition to issue with folders not remaining expanded, when they are expanded you now can't see the full name of your folders. Before the switch you could drag the folder box to the right to make the space larger. Now instead of seeing an entire folder name at a glance, you have to hover over each folder to get the full folder name. This is especially an issue when creating subfolders.

I don't see any arrow as shown by Yahoo. Neither in Chrome nor in Edge.

In the section 'What's New' it states "Expanded Folders - Now you can keep them collapse/uncollapse if you want your Left Rail less cluttered." but I don't see a way to do that.
I can't figure out how to permanently expand folders on the left side.
When trying to drag an email from inbox to another folder I hover over 'Folders' and get a pop up of the first 12 but can't scroll down to the folder I want. -

In the new version (where I am stuck), when I click on the Folders icon, I only get a separate window with the list of folders. Since I cannot expand my list of folders in the left pane, I cannot move multiple emails to a folder. I need to go into each email separately to move it to a folder. This takes much more time than this functionality in the previous version.

The double arrow that opens the left panel wider only appears on my screen when the screen is considerably zoomed out. When zoom is increased, that function is gone. The concept is an excellent one, but the design solution needs improvement so that it's much easier to open and close that left rail.

I agree with others. For those of us who always want folders expanded, it should not reset each time we log back in. It should remain durable.
The same goes for our election to expand or collapse the left panel ("rail"). It should be a setting that sticks once selected.
Related to the left rail, it seems we can only expand/collapse it from the main inbox view listing all messages, but it should also be an option while viewing individual messages.

Hi Kirsten, thanks for the feedback. Let us go step by step on how to keep them expanded.
1. You will need to expand the left side column first.
2. From the Inbox, hover your mouse over the edge of your Inbox (left side)
3. Double arrows will appear and you can click to expand column
4. When the column expanded, a drop down arrow will appear next to Folders
5. Click on that and the Folders will stay expanded for that session, even if you are checking emails, the folder list will stay expandedThe folders will collapse back if you refresh, close the window or log out of the account.

Have all folders viewable all the time as soon as you open yahoomail. Don't hide them behind another menu or you have to open them by clicking on the three dots or some menu. They were viewable in classic email.

I would like my folders expanded at all times. I don't need the extra step of opening the folders every time I want to move an email.

I do not have the down arrow to Expand Folders. You seem to be correcting this bug individually customer-by-customer. How do I get the arrow? Would you please post a correction process that all users can access.
Update March 5 - I finally was able to Expand Folders following user Doug O.'s instructions to zoom out. (No help from Yahoo.) Expand Folders will work when I zoom out to 67% or less but will not work (and the folders will collapse) if I increase the zoom to anything above 67%. So, this is still a failed feature compounded by Yahoo's lack of instructions.
