Thrusting one's self centred biased views down the throats of people and hoping for them to swallow so as to sway them to one's way of thinking is not going to work. People have brains to think, analyse and judge for themselves. Removing the COMMENTS section is robbing the people of their most basic fundamental right : FREEDOM of SPEECH. Isn't that the FUNDAMENTAL basis of DEMOCRACY ? Then, what is the DIFFERENCE from COMMUNISM & MARXISM ? Maybe, a new WORLD ORDER ?

1 ) Comments should be allowed to be expressed in writers own words
2 ) Yahoo should not be able to edit / delete them
3 ) No "Report Abuse" button
4 ) Free from Government intervention / censorship
5 ) Can freely write about any Race, Religion, Caste, Color or Creed.
    That's FREE SPEECH

Removing the COMMENTS section ( now apparently permanently ) is equally DISGUSTING.

Very true ! Second that motion. Without being able to comment, its not worth reading anything there.
Most of the features are celebrity garbage. Not interested in what they do or don't do.

Stop auto play video. Let the viewers decide what to watch.
Many videos are not worth watching.
Viewers have to constantly press the pause button as they scroll down the news articles. This is irritating.
Auto play chews a lot of data bundles especially for those on pay-as-you-go contracts.

Looks like the 'TEMPORARY' suspension has transitioned into 'PERMANENT' suspension.

Since Yahoo stopped article commenting, many have stopped to even view the news / stories section altogether. ( So no advert viewing also - which is a raw deal to Yahoo advertisers ).

Why is it taking so long to decide whether to restore / abolish comments ? 1 month should be enough to decide such a simple issue. What are the analytical staff analysing for so long ?
The more you accumulate data for analysis, the more you're going to get confused.
The less you accumulate data for analysis, the less you're going to get confused.
From this feedback section, its clearly obvious, even to the illiterate as to what Yahoo viewers want : Bring the comments BACK.

Maybe China can come up with an alternative site, publishing Western News Articles, where they can allow FREE SPEECH in its true sense, that is irrespective of choice of language and irrespective of Race, Religion, Caste, Color or Creed. Commentators' and China will LOVE it.
Western governments accuse China of curtailing freedom of speech, lets see how they react to this. If not allowing their own, at least it will be a start. A taste of their own medicine.

All the 'cyber tech giants' must approach especially the US & EU Governments to allow viewers to express unreservedly their views, in which so ever choice of words they choose to do so and most importantly irrespective of Race, Religion, Caste, Color or Creed. Remind them, this is the very essence and basis of true FREE SPEECH.

Journalists or article authors may portray their own ideas or perspectives. One sided views. Narrow angle views. They might miss vital insights from others. To notice and realise what they didn't see. Hence all the more need for viewer comments. Like the article : "Why so many Syrian women get divorced when they move to western countries". The author / writer, obviously an Arab woman herself, has failed to realise the real reasons, didn't bother to find out from the divorcees the real reasons, and refuses to accept the real reasons. A perfect example of biased and 'head in the sand' reasoning, and not willing to face and accept reality as to the real reasons why. Even though she and others like her opposing the real reasons are supposedly ' highly educated'.
Hence, all the more need and reason for restoring and having comments from viewers.

Then what is the difference between FREE SPEECH and DICTATORSHIP ?
Only in THEORY textbooks ? Not in PRACTICAL life ?

Hey ! That's a jolly good idea ! From the Yahoo news features, we can create our own comments section in this format, using this platform. There's always a way around everything..............
