How long do you keep these posts up? I see this is 3 years old, that's crazy.

If you all like Yahoo so much why are you getting so carried away with this ridiculous scoring?

You are over thinking the game.

As of 2020 PPR is out dated yet everyone still uses it.

Come on .5 points? What is the point of that IT'S NOT IN THE GAME anyway!

Everyone thinks they have to have 3 RB on their bench why?

It makes your league less competitive!!

In 2019 WR averaged 13 yards per catch. TE's 10 per catch RB 4.2 per carry, 7.8 per catch.

The game has caught up to standard scoring. 1 point per 10 yds, 1 point per 20 yds passing.

Take a step back & look at what you have become & what you should be doing.

    There is plenty of space with 30 You can do QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DT, 2 DE, 4 LB, 2 CB, 2 S That's only 19 back up QB, RB, WR, TE/RB, K/DT DE, LB, CB, S = 28 + 2 IR.

This will make for a more competitive league than a 40-45 man league.

40-45 you get hoarders if anyone has a player on their roster who did not play in a game he is a hoarder.

3 QB on roster, 5 RB on roster, 5 WR on roster, leaves no one players to play with making for less competitive games.

Problem is everyone has gotten use to this nonsense.

Roster size should always be minimal.
It's a good thing Yahoo allows Bye players to be placed on IR.

Someone having 3 RB on the bench then not playing 1 of them kills the leagues competitiveness because another player could be using that RB.

    Make your leagues competitive.

Can't go along with this idea.

Key word alienating! You PPR people have gone far off the rails. You laugh at those in standard leagues while using PPR in 2020 is the same thing.

The leage is now a passing league PPR was MADE UP to get WR's in the 80's more points because the NFL was a rushing league back then.

The game has caught up to traditional basic scoring now.

I have yet to hear a factual stat to keep PPR.

Here are the facts to eliminate it based on last season research.

WR averaged over 13 yards per catch from Michael Thomas to Quincy Enunwa's 1 catch for -4 yeads. 13!
Now take the top 50 only (that would actually play in fantasy) that 13 would be even greater.
Your scoring should be 1 for every 10 yards if not you are defeating the purpose.

Even TE averaged 10 yards per catch from Travis Kelce to Eric Tomlinson's 1 catch for 1 yard. So again take the top 30 that would actually play in fantasy that number would again be higher.

RB last season averaged 4.2 per carry from Derrick Henry to Danny Vitale's 1 attempt for 3 yards. Again that number 4.2 would be even larger among the top 32 that actually play in a fantasy game.

RB averaged 7.8 yards per reception last season from CMC to Senorise Perry's 1 catch for 1 yard. Again that number 7.8 would be even higher.

So you see if you are using 1 point per ten you are almost there no need for PPR.

It's 2020 time to let go of PPR it's NOT in the game!

The auto draft for those with IDP is pathetic.
We just finished ours & all teams were given second or third stringers it was shameful.

Love this idea hoarding kills leagues.
Right now in 2020 fantasy is totally out of control. PPR & flex have ruined the fantasy game.
20 team leagues are for those who hate competition. You can't have a league where teams have little shot at a starting QB on a bye week.

Assigned bench positions are for those who have been stuck in hoarding leagues it is definitely not a bad idea. But the better idea is restricting the number of bench positions. You really only need 4 bench positions 5 at the most in a strictly offensive league. 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE/K/Def.
So go with that because it's likely max position will never happen.

As for those who think it's too restrictive you are crazy. You will then have a full selection of RB in the free agent pool BUT is that player in the pool worth snagging over the RB you do have, knowing he will likely be stolen from the pool?!

All leagues need to get back to basics 1 point per 10, 20 per point passing. If you go back to this PPR is not necessary.
How do I know? Because I did the research.
Last season ALL WR's averaged over 13 yards per catch that's from Michael Thomas to Quincy Enunwa's 1 catch for -4 yards.
So now do it with those who actually play in fantasy like the top 50 that number would be even higher!

Even TE averaged over 10 per catch from Travis Kelce to Eric Tomlinson 1 catch for 1 yard.
Again look at those who actually play in fantasy, say top 30 that number would also be higher.

RB averaged 4.2 a carry from Derrick Henry to Danny Vitale's 1 attempt for 3 yards.
Now go again with the top 30 that number to should be even higher.

RB averaged 7.8 yards per catch last season from CMC to Senorise Perry's 1 catch for 1 yard.

RB often get 2 touches per first 3 plays of a drive,

Again the whole idea of fantasy is to move the chains & with those numbers that is exactly what will happen if not that's what we call a 3 & out.

Punters punted an average of 65 times per team that's a lot of 3 & outs, hence no need for PPR!

PPR is not in the game flex is not in the game bonus points are not in the game.
You should have 3 WR in your line up no flex. Flex is for hoarders & those who dislike competition.
A receiver can catch a 5 yard pass for a first down or he can catch it for a basic 5 yards there is no difference
A kicker kicks for a 25 yard field goal or a 60 yard field goal it's 3 points no matter which. You want bonus points draft the guy who kicked the most 50 yarders. That information is available.

You want 3 RB on your bench that kills the competition of your league because you will likely not even play one of them.

Jeff Hussain I challenge you to try it!

Maybe you haven't played in free internet leagues much.
I have for over 20 years & they are a joke.

No one in the area will invite me to play locally because they know I have played for so long & they prefer to enjoy easy prey. How much fun is that? And that I want a fair league.

I just want to point out a few things. All also depends on the number of teams in the league.

There are always 2-3 that don't play at all. 2-3 that will submit a partial line up which is not playing.

There are always lousy commissioners. That don't know how to handle those who don't play.

How can you tell if your league is worth a ****?
Actual points scored vs max possible points. You should be above 80%.
Hoarders scores are usually lower because they have too much to choose from.
    So really you hurt yourself.

Go back & max points the schedule would your record be the same? This is very interesting.
How would your league turn out if you were ALL perfect.

I am filling in in a league where there are hoarders the free agent pool is EMPTY & there was a guy who did not field half of his starting offense cause they were all on byes.WHAT FUN IS THAT?

If you are going to hoard at least pick the highest scoring person at that position each week or you are wasting your time.

It's a 20 team league (which are a complete joke) No more than 16 EVER!
If you are unable to fill your line up each week your league is a joke.
Nearly every league I played in I would run into an incomplete line up. Or the guy with a player who should definately be starting on the bench.

If you do not draft appropriately you shouldn't be playing. But in a 20 team league the are not enough QB's so why?

I've played in a league where the last place team did not play all season but did the week I played them & beat me costing a playoff spot. If they played all year I would have likely been in.

Fantasy should mirror the real thing. Granted there are teams with 3 RB & teams with 5.
There are still only 32 RB worth drafting.

Just try it once & compare it to the other league you are playing in.

If you read my other comment I have 4 other who play no other leagues now because of the competitiveness of this kind of league.

Hoarders kill leagues plain & simple.
    A hoarder = a person not playing.

If you enjoy playing in a league where each team does not field a complete line up you are wasting your time & your (free) league is a joke.

You will all hate what I say UNTIL you try it.

I made a league with basic starters 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF with 1 bench player at each position at all times. 10 team league.

I get "it's to restrictive" all the time but there are more free agents than in a league the same people will play in. So how that is restrictive is beyond me.

Why my other owners like it:
    No hoarders
    Full line ups each week
    a competitive game each week
a competitive league to where all teams are in it until the final week (too much parody for most)
and that is what it is all about a competitive league.

Granted this is primarily an internet league problem not so much with a local league where everyone knows everyone.

I do have openings in my league if interested. (Courtland Lee)

You guys have gotten WAY TOO CAUGHT UP IN BS!
#1 you can do with Edit team scoring
    #2 way too play specific
#3 at catch is a catch weather is for a yard or 50 yards
#4 you would have to have offensive line players
#5 3 points is 3 points weather it's 20 or 60 it's 3 points. Where you all get off track is you want extra point just draft the guy who kicked the most 50+ yarders.
    #6 too detailed
#7 onside kicks are practically eliminated why mess with them
#8 PPR should not even exist anymore see rant at the end
#9 insane it would take you all day Monday to figure all this meaningless stuff out. I'm getting real tired reading all this
#10 as commish you can change any position at any time your job is to be fair about it.
#11 non sense a player catches a pass for an 11 yard loss should be deducted. This goes against all the above you have been preaching.
#12 only thing that has made sense but reminder hoarding kills leagues
#13 the new NFL kick off rules have made it a completely meaningless play. The NFL needs to change that. It used to be the most exciting play of the game. The No Fun League has ruined that.

You are so far out of control there is literally no chance of saving you, You are pretty much asking for play by play scoring.

Fantasy is based on the game which now a days means nothing.
Why do you think basic scoring was 10 per point & QB 20 per pass?
It's all based on moving the chains, 10 yards for a first down equals 10 yards per point.

When fantasy was started the NFL was a rushing league it was not uncommon for a RB to get 40 points.
Then came computers & computer geeks who made up PPR to get WR's points because it was rare for a WR to get 20 points.

Enter 2018 PPR is no longer necessary because now the NFL is a passing league.
Last year ALL WR's averaged 13 yards a catch. So if your league is scoring higher than that you are only shooting yourself in the foot.

That's all WR from Michael Thomas to Quincy Enunwa's 1 catch for -4 yards. So imagine how much higher that number actually is for JUST the top 50!

Everyone the says what about the 5 or 8 yard catch well that was likely in a 3 & out situation each team punted about 65 times last year so not every play deserves points.

Even TE averaged over 10 yards per catch & that's from Travis Kelce's 79 catches to Eric Tomlinson's 1 catch for 1 yard. Again imagine how high that number is for JUST the top 30!

Right now in 2020 there should be no PPR when using basic scoring. Again if you are at more than 1 point per 10 yards you are defeating the purpose.

With all those suggestions I can't believe you left out punters!

Get back to basics & chill out man you are way out of control.

    Team QB & K scoring

Why? A team has a QB on every play.
So if Goff were to go down you would also get Bortles points.

So now you say if that is the case If I have Gurley I should get Brown's points also? Not the case. Neither Gurley or Brown play every offensive play, but there is always a QB.

Now what about Hill in NO? You should get Brees & Hills stats. Why he is listed as a QB no one is going to start him as a QB unless it's a 20 team league.I would not allow receiving yards but with the Philly special you about have too.

Kickers (now they can always go for 2) but some will use a punter or another position you wouldn't even think about safety, linebacker if a kicker gets hurt.
So whoever kicks should go towards the kickers score because points were scored.

These are 2 positions where you don't need to draft an individual person. Again because there is always a QB & someone who kicks although a back up K is not listed on most rosters.

So is it fair if Goff gets hurt first play that a fantasy team gets 0 points at QB not really because SOMEONE played the rest of the game.
But then you say is it fair if Kupp goes down first play & gets a 0 for the game? Yes! The odds of Kupp playing every offensive play is not impossible but it is minimal.Plus Goff will throw to 5 other receivers. He is not the only receiver there is only 1 ACTUAL QB.

This would need to be predetermined with the league & commish & promotes stronger competition. If this is voted down by your league you may as well play a public league where no one plays cause that's the competition level you are getting!

You can always make that a subset of rules & the commish can adjust team points it is a good thing to do because it's rarely used.
RB, TE & WR's rarely play the entire game but there is always a QB & never a back up K.

You should have an IR spot in your league complaining to Yahoo is pointless.

Talk to your commissioner for IR spots not Yahoo.

Bell is on the reserve did not report but is listed as Out so he can be put on IR.

You know the insurance commercial that says "I have the wrong coverage." "No I have the wrong insurance company" well maybe you are in the wrong league or have the wrong commissioner.

With the IR-Return there should be a few IR spots in every league.

They don't do this in football so why baseball?

Yahoo didn't have L. Thomas NYJ listed as a FB even though he scored points.

You don't have punters listed as Kickers when they have to step in.

Supposedly he is a pitcher so he should be listed as one until he gets a certain amount of AB's
