Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.
7-Team playoffs are now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/started-yahoo-fantasy-commissioner-sln36403.html

So you don't draft any Cowboys, Chiefs, Patriots or Falcons since they don't play in week 1?
Or you wait for week 2, but you don't know who the winners are for week 1?
Too many complications.

having a re-draft for all playoff bound teams and players (we're talking about NFL teams and players, not fantasy teams). Think of it like a 2nd season. Host a draft and battle your friends for supremacy based on NFL playoffs.

This is going in 1 ear and out the other, with Yahoo.

Yahoo needs to allow the ability to create 2 week long playoff formats, e.g. have the championship match-up go on from week 15 & 16 and the winner based on cumulative total points.
I've been using yahoo for over 7 years because i love the layout of the Stat Tracker but your config settings are EXTREMELY limited. Please yahoo step your development game up or else i'll be forced to go to another site.

True. Maybe the default size for football can be increased to 12.
-
Steve Huslig commented
The difference is the default league size for baseball, hockey and basketball is 12 teams while football only has 10. That is why the default bracket is 4 x 4 in public and pro leagues.
In private leagues the 6 team option is available for the commish to select.
-

To be consistent with the default playoff scheme, which Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey uses, Football should use the following, instead of the 4 team playoff (includes a consolation bracket):
The top 6 teams in the league standings after the last week of the Fantasy regular season qualify for a 3-week postseason tournament to determine a league champion.
The next 6 teams in the standings qualify for a consolation bracket to determine 7th through 12th place. The season is over for everyone else.
Teams - 6 championship, 6 consolation
Playoff Weeks - 2 options:
Weeks 14, 15, and 16
Weeks 15, 16, and 17 -

Please give us the option for a 7 team playoff next year? A 1st round bye should only be given to 1 team, not 2. Please give us this customizable option next year.

Overall points scored is a terrible tiebreaker. Yahoo honestly should be embarrassed that its platform doesnt have the option to at least have custom playoff brackets so the leagues can establish whatever tiebreakers they want offsite and the commish enforces them during playoffs. You have the best interface and set up on the site/APP but what really matters is playoffs and how teams finish. My big money league left because of tiebreakers for who makes playoffs and the seeding. If I played a team twice in the season, won both of the games, and we finsih with the same record but they move on to playoffs because they scored one more point than me all year? STUPID.

Commissioners of private leagues NEED to be able to do this. I can't believe this has been sitting here for 2 years.
In our main 10 man league we have a 4 man play off for the championship and a 4 man playoff for last place. Yahoo does not support this whatsoever and what's worse(other than having to track this manually), is that eliminated teams from yahoos format are locked. So I have to process all the waivers manually and try and keep up with that. And the league come the end of the season looks like an absolute mess compared with what it should look like. Makes looking at the history of the league very difficult.
Please don't sit on this issue any longer and let commissioners of private league determine their own play off structure.

In a private league, the commish can lock any team they want at anytime for any reason. So if the commish wants teams that are out of the championship to not pick up players, they can lock them.

Should be able to toggle off consolation games during the playoffs. They're more of a nuisance than they're worth. It encourages some managers to continue adding/dropping players even though they're not in the playoffs.

For the last 3 weeks of the season, teams not qualifying for an 8-team playoff format have nothing to do. The playoffs should be a fully customizable feature as it in Fantrax and ESPN and extend to the consolation bracket as well should other commissioners see fit to implement a secondary playoff bracket.

This would be a very easy new option to implement. Let's have the choice for a 7 team playoffs. 1st seed gets a bye with the usual 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 matchups.
This is a great middle-ground for people who want more than 6 teams or less than 8 teams! It seems so easy there's no excuse NOT to do it in my opinion!
-
Steve Huslig commented
There is an option to send 6, top 2 get byes.
3 plays 6
4 plays 5Winners move on and play 1 and 2.
-
Reggie Tennison commented
Good point. So the way it would need to be is the top 3 seeds get a bye in Week 14. Seed 4 would play 5 for the right to advance. Proceed as normal in Week 15
-
Steve Huslig commented
The math doesn't work out.
5 teams start the playoffs, 1 team on bye.
2 plays 5
3 plays 4Winners move on.
Now you have 3 teams in the next round.

You could go with the 8 team format.

We have an on going keeper league. We have a cash league and we play a cash pool for league pickem contest that runs through playoffs We also have draft order for next year. I have to lock or tell team managers that don't make playoffs to bench everyone, so those games are neutralized. We do use the playoff consolation games that matter for league pickem contest and places for prizes and standings. I would just like a way to eliminate consolation games for non playoff teams.

We have a 12 team league. Our playoffs are weeks 15/16. We break up into three brackets at the end of the regular season (Championship, Consolation A and Consolation B). Our seeding is based on record, then overall points.
All teams play in both weeks of playoffs to determine final positions of all 12 teams for season's playoff payout.
Outside of our Championship bracket, we are managing this manually. It would be helpful if Yahoo could give us a set of system options to manage this. Other systems seem to have a better set of tools for this.
