Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.

Allowing 7 playoff teams to mimic current NFL format should be the standard feature of Yahoo Fantasy Football without requiring to upgrade. This is very critical for our league. If Yahoo does not allow this next 2024 season, we will move away from Yahoo platform.

change the playoff format to be similar to the nfl. make a 7 team playoff an option where only the #1 seed gets a first round bye

We currently have a 12 team league with six playoff teams. After the regular season 1 and 2 in league standings receive byes the remainder four teams play in round 1
We would like to pivot to mimic the NFL format of 7 teams with 1 bye to the regular season champion. Then proceed with 2v7, 3v6, 4v5
How is this not a feature in league settings already? Let's get this thing rolling Yahoo, come on

Yes, please make this switch. Considering going to a 14 team league and having 7 each for winner's and loser's bracket. Would literally mimic the NFL playoff 7 team format.
C'mon Yahoo you can do it!

I would also like to be a voice to request for a 7 team playoff structure for 10 team fantasy football leagues. Our league would love to set up the playoffs with 7 teams and only 1 team getting the 1st round bye. I understand this has been a want for some time now amongst yahoo fantasy leagues. Nows the time to make it happen yahoo.

I also agree that option of 7 playoff teams should be there, as it mimics NFL playoffs. 8 seems to be too many for 12 and 14 team leagues, allowing losing record teams to get into playoffs. Also gives bye to only reg season champ.

Please can you make a 7 team playoff for 12 team leagues. #1 gets bye, mirrors the actual NFL?

My league would like to have an option for odd number of teams go to the playoffs.

Our 12-team league has used an 8-team format for the playoffs for 20 years. This year we switched to a 6 team with the bottom six playing in the consolation. It is marginally better. But the ideal scenario would be the compromise of a 7 team playoff. That gives the #1 seed a perk of a bye while 2 plays 7, 3-6 and 4-5. As was mentioned earlier in these posts we are considering going off the Yahoo setup for the playoffs to make that happen as well. It's just a lot of work and is harder to watch the playoff matchups.
Yahoo giving us that option of the NFL 7-team format would be fantastic.

in a 10 team league 3 round playoffs there should be an option for top 5 teams in the championship playoffs bottom 5 in consolation playoffs. week one teams 123 would get a bye 4 and 5 would play wild card round. week 2 1 would play the winner of 4 and 5 and 2 would play 3. week 3 the two winners play for the championship. as for the consolation bracket team 10 would get a bye week 1 and 9 would play 6 7 would play 8. week two 10 gets a bye into the loser bowl. the two losers would play eachother and the two winners would play eachother. week 3 the loser of the losers game plays team 10 for the last place loser bowl.

This would be a great option for a 7 team playoff (re-seeding) as our league also mimics the NFL as much as possible. As of the past two years I've been controlling playoffs off of the yahoo league page because of this issue. It wouldn't be a tall task to get this passed and programming to get it done for next year...My league is a 14 team league with top 7 making playoffs and bottom 7 (consolation bracket) play for draft pick position the following year

My league has 14 teams. 8 playoff teams is too many, but only 6 seems like too few. 7 would be best and only gives 1 team a bye. It seems like many years, the 6th seed will have 1 more win than the 7th seed, but the 7th has a lot more points and just got unlucky for a few games. Other websites allow it so it should not be that hard to implement.

Definitely need to consider adding ability to do odd number of playoffs teams & subsequently the ability to select only 1 team earning the bye.

Is there a way we can change playoff seedings to what the NFL has now? Only one team on bye?
James Sovia commented
#1 seed gets bye in first week of playoffs. #2 thru #7 seeds play in first week. Winners are reseeded with #1 seed to play in semi-finals in the second week, etc.
Have the option to have an odd number of teams to make the playoffs, 5 team playoff- Top 3 gets byes, 7 team playoff- Top team gets bye.

Please add the 7 team option. My 16 team league mimics everything else including schedule around the NFL. Need to be able to setup the playoffs with 7 teams.

Definitely want the 7 team playoff. NFL does it why can’t Yahoo?? I hate having to go in and just putting the 8 seed at zero points as a commissioner. Make it happen before the season starts!

7 team playoff for 14 team league makes a ton of sense! The NFL has it already, make it happen.

We have a 12 team league. Top 8 make playoffs. We are looking to create a play-in game for seeds 8 and 9. This would be week 13. Top 7 teams have a bye and then continue weeks 14, 15 ,16 for playoffs.
