Rosters/Lineups - Roster limits for positions.
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 QBs on their roster or a team can have a minimum of 1 kicker. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

we've been wanting to institute position limits in our leagues for many years. We try to do so manually, but it would be much easier for Yahoo to allow the Commish of a private league to have a simple setting that his league could use to do so. Let each league decide what it wants.
And for the guy below that is worried about a commish changing the rules/settings after the league has started... why would you be concerned about THIS option? I'd be more worried about cheating commishes for other settings. Try to join a league where you trust the commish. If you don't know who is in the league, that is tantamount to a public league. I think this whole idea is for private leagues that set their own rules... not for public or "pseudo-public" leagues like you are describing. Your paranoia is no reason to deprive other leagues from things they want available in Yahoo settings. Find a league you can trust. Start with people you know instead of strangers. LOL.

I oppose this rule.
I understand that I can choose to not join the leagues which use the rule,
but I've also seen some league commissioners change rules after the draft.
How are you going to insure that a commissioner cannot add position limits after the draft ? -

Hey byron: Did you call me a bozo in your July 22 post ?
I don't care if this stupid rule is put into public leagues. I don't play in them.
I do oppose the rule for private leagues.

I don't see how this idea would really help leagues.
Allowing this change would force me to check another setting/rule while looking at leagues to decide which one to join. -

This should not be inforced in all leagues. My league has the following roster settings:
Roster Positions: QB, W/T, W/T, W/T, W/R, W/R, K, DEF, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR

What the **** do we have to do to get you guys to change this. Seems like a two minute fix from your end?

Should be at leagues discretion. Some use some wont

Let's say that I draft 4 RBs today.
Likely, 1 will be injured and 1 will be cut before the season's first game in Sept.
So, the only sensible thing for me to do is to draft 5 RBs.
QBs & WRs & TEs are less likely to be injured or cut.
So, 1 sub at each of these positions is sensible. -

Hey Jk, No one would force a commish to use this. All we want is an option for a private league that has roster limits (and nearly all leagues outside of Yahoo do) to be able to have that functionality on Yahoo like we have on other sites. whether or not you personally see a benefit is irrelevant. the fact is that many leagues have limits and Yahoo currently offers no way for the league to administer its rule.

Max Bench Roster postions needs to be completed by the beginning of the season please. Every other site has this option and it causes all kinds of problems within the leagues

My league would greatly appreciate position limit options. We are an IDP league so we would want to limit offense separtely from defense.

Have a 2QB league with 10 guys - sometimes teams want to pick up 4 QBs at a time for speculation purposes, but during bye weeks this leads to teams who can't start anyone at QB. I self-manage to make sure there is only 3 QBs a team during heavy bye weeks, but it would be great to be able to limit from a system side. Thanks!

Well, are you going to make this change or not? We ll want it and every other site allows it. Let's go! Wake up Yahoo.

Other than that Yahoo is the best

Colorado Footballers agrees. ESPN limits your quantities give us commishes the choice to set amounts to each position so teams don't hoard positions. ESPN wont let you draft more than limits set
