A full block tool
Hopefully Yahoo developers and staff are reading these suggestions. A tool to full block someone from viewing your posts and following you around is sorely needed in the Yahoo Conversations. This tool will allow users to essentially self-moderate which means less work for Yahoo's Abuse Team and most significantly, a guaranteed decrease in the overall toxicity within the Yahoo forums.
Just muting doesn't do enough because abusive individuals will still follow you around to smear you and make you look awful. There is just so much of this going on right now and it is making the Yahoo forums very unpleasant.

Any word from Yahoo staff on the possibility of this tool? This tool would be very helpful to clean up the Yahoo Finance message boards.
I've met my fair share of disturbed individuals in Yahoo Finance Conversations and would appreciate an option to fully block them from viewing my profile, posts, threads and etc. As useful as the muting option is, it doesn't stop the more disturbed types from following you around.

Dear Yahoo Employees, there are some very mentally ill individuals on the internet. Please give your users a proper way to block these individuals so they cannot stalk your account and disrupt your discussions in Yahoo Finance Conversations.

This tool would help quite a bit in the Yahoo Finance forums. There are many very abusive and stubborn individuals who will not stop following people around. The persistent hostility and toxicity makes it difficult to have reasonable discussions in the forums.
I would love to see a block option that is the same as Twitter. The blocked individual no longer sees your posts and you no longer see their posts. No more obsessed stalkers or other crazies following you around for various reasons. You'll be able to have fruitful discussions on the financial forums without any disruptions. Please Yahoo, give us this option.
The Yahoo boards seem woefully underdeveloped. On top of actually blocking someone and preventing them from stalking your account, you can't even unmute someone if you accidentally muted them.
A full block tool can't come soon enough. These boards are infested with some very angry people who will stalk and constantly attack others on the slightest disagreement.
In 5+ years on Yahoo, I've have not seen a single harassing or even threatening post get removed. Quite frankly, I don't think they care about any of this. They probably care even less about implementing this.
Blocking someone from viewing your posts won't solve every problem but it will solve a lot. This has been a default feature in many forums for a reason.
There have been more and more obsessive stalkers on Yahoo. Some people just won't let go and will hunt / harass others to the end of time. It has been more than just 'unpleasant' going through the Yahoo forums. It would be nice if there was at least a message from Yahoo staff whether or not this feature is in serious consideration.

Could really use this full block feature right about now. I'm actually surprised the 'mute' feature doesn't also prevent the muted from seeing your posts by default. Nothing beneficial will come out of allowing persistent abusive users follow people around after being muted.
I know there is no such thing as privacy on the net these days but being able to control who views your content would still be appreciated.
I 100% agree. You should be able to block troublemakers from viewing your profile and content. This function has already existed in many other message boards, Reddit, and Twitter. Blocking is a proven method to cutting down the abuse. The abuser can try to make new accounts to harass you but it takes less effort to block him. You'll be giving the legitimate users more control over their content and a nice reduction in abuse if this blocking tool is ever developed.
Not only have there been persistent abusers, but there were people that went far beyond that. They changed their name and profile picture just to stalk a specific target and impersonate that person. Or sometimes they change their name to that person's mother, father, sister, brother and post obscene messages to their targeted person.
Yea... please let people block other people from viewing their messages and profile.
This is something that Twitter does very well. When you block someone on Twitter, they can't view your content and you don't see their content. There are no further interactions between the two of you.
Even the mere threat of being blocked like this can be a powerful deterrent. A potential abusive poster might think twice about continually posting abusive posts because this person will find him or herself in an empty forum after being blocked by everyone.
If Yahoo implements this, I suspect the rate of abusive messages will be cut down by 50% or maybe even as high as 90%. I do miss a proper blocking tool like this and wish Yahoo employees would seriously consider implementing it.
