Sorting bars above email messages

Can we have sorting bars above the email messages? This way we can just click on the bar above the relevant column to sort (e.g. from, subject, date, etc) instead of clicking on a drop down menu to search for the sorting option.

Also, if an email is selected and then the sorting option is clicked, that email message should remain selected. This helps with searching or browsing.
For instance, if I select an email from "John" and I click on the sort by name bar, all emails from all Johns should be together; if I select an email whose subject is "Offer" and click on the subject sorting bar, then all emails starting with that word (or with the letter "O") should appear right away. The current feature throws the user to the very top of the list when sorting and we have to manually look for the message that interests us.

    My inbox only shows four options which are not as popular as simply being able to sort by sender or subject. Flipping date order, starred, and unread emails might be helpful to some, but sender and subject has to be more useful to a larger group of customers. If you want to charge for the service, add it to Pro which otherwise is of limited value.

    Still waiting for a solution on the sort function for the sent file. Sorting by sender, in the sent file, is useless! Why was the sort by recipient function changed to begin with. Would make things so simple if there were just column titles to click on to sort.

    Love this comment that was on a reviewed/closed suggestion...that still has not been fixed:
    "People have lots of different sorting needs and use different ones at different times (see other sort comments). Why on earth can't we just click on the column we want to sort (to, from, subject, date, size, attachments, etc.) LIKE IN EVERY OTHER PROGRAM IN THE WORLD?? !"

    Sorting the sent column by sender is useless. Using it in the inbox could be helpful....but sorting by recipient in the sent folder WAS an invaluable tool that no longer exists.

    KISS - Keep it Simple.....just allow us to click on the column headers to do our sorting.

    There should be option of sorting Emails Datewise. On entering a particular date,we should be able to go to Emails of that date immediately. Right now if I want to go to an Email dated 2 years back it will take hours to reach that Email.Please get this important thing done immediately.

    I think the unread folder should have the option to sort by name, date, etc.

    Also the unread email disappears once you click on it. It would be great if it had a time limit before changing to read.
