list contact by last name
I liked the old format better. I also want my contacts like before, especially LAST NAME first

Not only does this come up first name first, but I can't delete or add contacts. What a joke!!! File by last name

Is there no way to change the contact sorting from first name to last name? This is basic stuff! Your alpha and beta testing must be non-existent!!!

I don't like the first name listing, either! Last name should be first on your contacts. This is so frustrating. Also all my old emails, like over 3000 of them showed up in my inbox all of a sudden! I have been deleting like mad, and even though I did not start with today's mail, now it is gone, too. WTH is going on?

What good does it to post a comment? Nobody is answering

Last Name contact sorting should be the default, not First Name sorting.
Please restore the ability to sort contacts by Last Name and Company. The current fixed list sorting by First Name is difficult to use at least and last-case use at best. -

LAST name first! The whole world learned to sort lists this way. WHY would you change that?!!!
Even listed as they are now with the first names first, my contacts aren't even in alphabetical order and I can find no way to correct even that. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!!!
Feel free to imagine here the use of any and all curse words you may know that would help emphasize how absurd this format is. PUT IT BACK!!!!! -

Unbelievable I cannot switch my contact list to last name first or first name first. I have not seen a program like this for more than 20 years. Easy for Yahoo to change. Very disappointing they seem to not care. Another reason I do most of my email in Google these days. They give you the choice and it is easy to switch.

All comments have the same complaint I do. In what world do they list names alphabetically by first name.

Absolutely ridiculous to list contacts by 1st name and not surname. Despite numerous comments, you seem to be doing nothing about it. Surely, it is common courtesy to acknowledge comments and say what you intend to do about it. When I complained, I was merely told to go to this forum and that "our product teams review the posts and look for ideas to include in future releases". Yet after 6 months of complaints, there is no indication of anything being done. Switching back to classic mail puts contacts in surname order but shows no home addresses so that is useless too.

Whoever jammed 'first name' for the whole contact list should be fired. This is ridiculous....who searches for first names...it is a total pain to try find contacts. The whole contact thing was very very badly done. I think it will be easier to move to Gmail and forget Yahoo....

Before the changeover to the new mail program, my contacts were in order by last name first. It seemed that we had the ability to order them as we wanted. Now I find that the contacts are ordered first name first and there is no way to change it.
In addition, I had certain contacts with parentheses in the first name field for a particular reason, and most of the time they were removed. I do not appreciate Yahoo making this decision for me and I do not appreciate that they changed the contacts list so that it is more difficult to use.
Please give your users the option to enter their contacts without interfering with their preferences. Please let me know when this feature is updated.

I hate the way Yahoo has my contacts listed. I had them listed by last name until this last change. Drop the stupid little balloon with contacts initials.

I've had yahoo mail almost 20 years now and ALWAYS had my address book alphabetized by last name and now it's disappeared and I can't find anywhere to change it!

What is going on with Yahoo mail? Contacts are a mess and I can't do anything, not even sort/display by last name. This stinks. And HELP stinks too.

MOST NORMAL LISTS OF CONTACTS USE LAST NAMES
WHO IS THE "BIG BRAIN" THAT DISABLED THIS?
