list contact by last name
I liked the old format better. I also want my contacts like before, especially LAST NAME first

Why can't we list our contacts by last name first??

Please give at least an OPTION to list contacts alphabetically by LAST name.

Contacts should be listed by last name--it is absurd to have a directory listed by first name--it makes sending emails to a group so much more difficult. The old format was fine.

I,too, want the last name FIRST!!

I'm not sure why a function as basic and useful as listing contacts by last name was overlooked in the update. Very frustrating and extremely time consuming to check or edit lists to make sure the right people are in the groups. The search doesn't always come up with emails that I know are there (or should be). Please don't implement "improvements" unless there's a real improvement.

Listing contacts by first name is absurd! Suppose I have 30 people named Ann with a different last name and 22 people named Mary also with a different last name. I have to scroll through ALL of them to find the one(s) I want. Just give us an option, please. Also, I don't even have an Edit icon next to my Contacts. Does anyone else? When I ask the Internet how to Edit Yahoo Contacts, it says there's an Edit icon but I don't have one.

Totally agree. Just try to find someone in a phone book listing everyone by their first name.... How thoughtless (not to say stupid) to allow only that format with no possibility to change it.
Look at the way Gmail and Microsoft Outlook do their address lists and LEARN SOMETHING!!!

YES YES YES, you have made a disaster with the new format, it stinks, change it back.

Please get rid of the new contact list and revert to the old one. Everyone I know files by last name first, why do we have to put up with some programmers wet dream? At the very least it should be optional as to which format one prefers.

Contacts are truly a mess. My lists are in NO discernable order, several are duplicated, I can only see a small amount of info on my contacts. When I tried to delete the duplicates or make changes, no changes were made. I need to be able to have accurate lists for my mailouts and I cannot be assured of this now. Terrible email.

I agree with all of the commenters. You have truly messed up the contact list, and I want it returned to how it was before - QUICKLY! - Then please leave it alone.

This new format is ridiculous! I want to see my contacts in alphabetical order by surname because I don't know the first names of many of them. There is no general way to add contacts to lists; it was better being able to add to lists within the contact's entry. When I select a contact, I want to see which lists he's been assigned to. I just added two contacts and assigned them to lists; their names do not appear on the lists. Terrible.

I need my contact list alphabetically by surname, also need my individual lists by surname not a random jumble of names. At least give me the option like before. Transferring names from list to list or keeping them on multiple lists now a nightmare, there's no way of seeing instantly who's name is where. Old layout much more user friendly!!

I agree with the Latham comment. Let us chose the method of order. And when we do, DON"T CHANGE IT

The change to the contact lists should have been deferred until it was ready for prime time. The contacts no longer show the lists to which assigned and the contact lists cannot be arranged alphabetically by choice of first name, last name, etc. I really do not understand why a product that reduced the services would be substituted for that which was working very well.

Why can't I choose the way to order the contacts? It used to be by last name, now it's by first name. I used to have a choice.
