app password not available
I can't add my account to my outlook desktop app because it is not possible to create an app password? Is there a way to solve this issue

The generating password tool is not currently available which is certainly not good news.

There is no specific topic in email help for transitioning COX email accounts to Yahoo for the various versions of Microsoft Outlook.
My email in Outlook 2016 stopped working. I've tried creating a new account as well as just updating the password with the new Yahoo password. There is no specific information for perhaps millions of Outlook accounts on how to transition. I have six email accounts to monitor. There should be specific instructions for modifying existing Outlook email accounts and creating new Outlook email accounts using COX email addresses to function with the Yahoo email servers.
Using the Yahoo browser interface by looking a six accounts individually is not practical.
I found a process that worked for outlook 2013.
- Create account in Yahoo with the cox.net email address
- Create a one -time Yahoo app password.

Hover over account name, select "account settings", security tab, scroll down to generate app password.
- From file tab, delete email account in outlook
- From file tab, add account.
- Select "update manually" to change setting after initial failure.
- Update to yahoo server settings. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html
- password is the app password. -
