Add an option to turn off AI summaries.
It might be useful for people with robust business-style accounts, but most of my messages are already short, or they're notifications. It makes the "summaries" redundant and obnoxious.

I also think this Ai email review is border illegal, I just tried to disable but I was told by Yahoo tech that 'it can't be disable', that is very shady really, I bet when they have a handful of email samples then they will give you the option of disabling this 'feature'
I am a pay customer I need more respect for my business. -

This AI summary is the most obnoxious feature ever rolled out, I have been using Yahoo mail for more than 20 years. There are legal implications of an AI bot reading my email - you need to let people turn this off, or opt out of this feature.

The summaries are a waste of space and time. I also object to having the information in my personal emails being used for Yahoo's business purposes.

I was going to consider switching away from Yahoo due to the change in appearance alone. Now that I realize they're using my e-mails and data to train AI without my consent, I am ABSOLUTELY leaving Yahoo.
It's been good for years, but Yahoo sucks now.

I strongly agree with this! I heavily dislike the email subject lines being replaced with AI summaries that aren't even accurate. I also don't care for the subject lines being obscured by action items if I hover over it. Being able to quickly skim subject lines helped me keep my inbox maintained.

Turn off AI, please! My email is MINE. I do not want or need it sorted for me. Privacy is way more important than categories! And it doesn't do a good job, anyway.

I hate the summaries, they're never good and they take up WAY too much space on screen. Let me make it go away so I can just read my emails like a normal person!
-

These summaries are unnecessary. You can get the same information by just glancing at the email, but you get a lot more. I already know what the email is about. I want to be able to see the text of the email without having to scroll down on each one. Make this an option to turn off. It is incredibly annoying.

I've started transitioning to a new email address because of this, even though I have literally decades of history at my Yahoo email. The feature adds nothing and is incredibly offputting. I never asked Yahoo or its algorithm to insert itself between me and the person talking to me. And I know you're using a ton of extra energy to do this useless thing no one wants.

Andrew Goodney commented
The new UI shows AI summaries instead of the e-mail subject. The summaries are often wrong and do not accurately reflect what the e-mail is about.
The subject line is important and shouldn't be changed arbitrarily, please do not assume an AI summary is an appropriate substitute for the subject line. At least make this an option so I can choose!

I am leaving Yahoo Mail after 10+ years because of the awful AI summary that no one asked for, no one likes, and has completely ruined the ability to easily check inbox. Bye!

Really don't like AI summary before the email. It is a waste of time and I was so confused by it at first. It made me mess up a response to the email.

We should have a choice whether we want the AI summary. For me, it's just a giant waste of time and screen space.

Just not needed! I'll read the darn email myself!

Just read the next 20 or so comments. 100% clear that this AI feature is not ready for prime time. Simply, it MUST be able to be turned off or I move to GMail and give up 10+ years of email history, which I do not want to do. Yahoo Mail has done a lot of things right, this just is not one of them. I have not used the "critical" button on a lot of the feedback, but this one is critical.

1. Summary is FREQUENTLY WRONG or deceptive or incoherent.
2. Summary takes up more than half the screen requiring scrolling to see the actual message
3. Maybe somebody wants/needs summaries, but I CAN'T STAND THEM.
4. Of all of the deficiencies of the new UI - this is the WORST! -
Chris Kenney commented
I haven't seen one of these give an accurate, concise, and USEFUL result. They always leave SOEMTHING out, and they cover up the actual email. I DON'T NEED YOUR GUESSES, I NEED MY EMAIL!
-
Karalee Shotola commented
When I first saw the AI summary, I thought it was the actual email until I scrolled down! I do NOT need AI summaries, especially for short emails that I can read myself. There should be an option to opt out of the use of AI. As others have addressed, there are concerns about privacy and the energy usage to generate all the summaries. Also, AI can be highly inaccurate!

I don't like the idea of forcing the implementation of AI into my PERSONAL email experience. This is a new technology that has already proven to be rife with privacy and security issues. I don't want my personal emails to be subject to additional risk in exchange for an AI "feature" that isn't solving any actual problems and is poorly executed.
At best, this creates extraneous information or "stray voltage" that makes the interface more confusing, crowded, and LESS user friendly.
At worst, it exposes my personal correspondence to security breach or unwanted consumer marketing.
I don't want to be a FORCED test case for the implementation of AI into my personal life and information.
This new feature roll out is concerning, frustrating, and irresponsible. Please stop the madness.
