Allow commisioner to start playoffs whenever they want
With all the resting that happens during weeks 20 onward, it makes the playoffs too much of a crapshoot.
Personally I would like to be able to start our playoffs in late February so this is not an issue.
Please let us have the option to start the playoffs whenever we want.

I think that pro league finals should end on the week of March 22nd, as there will be way too many players resting and undergoing load management by the time we reach the end of March/start of April. It wouldn't be fair for the winner of a pro league to win because his opponent had his stars resting majority of the time. Ending the playoffs on March 22nd would make it better for every manager as almost every star in the NBA now undergoes resting games in benefit of staying fresh for the NBA playoffs.

Hello Yahoo - Curious as to why this feature is not available yet and if it will be enabled this year? Your staff posted it would be ready for this year over on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasybball/comments/b3hyab/dear_yahoo_please_allow_us_to_schedule_the/

Totally agree with this idea, with all the load managment probably coming again this year.

We need this option more then any other.

We so need this feature... at a minimum being able to start the playoffs in week 18, 19, 20 and 21.... as of right now Yahoo only alllows week 21 as the earliest playoff start date.

Can you add an option to move the playoffs even earlier next season? For example, I believe this season the earliest option was for Weeks 22, 23 and 24. Maybe add an option for Weeks 21, 22, and 23? Injuries, rest and load management play too big of a role late in the season.

Yes, this is a must. The game is being ruined by fake injuries and resting during the fantasy playoffs. Kevin Durant has not been available in the 1st round for 5 straight years now. Consider that.

I agree, please allow us to end the playoffs before the all-star break.

This is a must. For multiple reasons, I can see this as being a good and for almost none as bad. Just look at the injuries toward the end of the season. Plus it's not fair for some teams to have to play each other 3 times and some 2 times. The season can get a little long too so for fantasy dynasty leagues if you want to keep guys coming back let them have a few more weeks to not stress out about fantasy BB especially further into the spring if they should choose. I lost Durant, Klay T, Chris P, Schroder, and Mirotic during fantasy playoffs after having very few injuries during the year. It's frustrating and can happen at any time but I'd rather have a few more weeks to my other pursuits too.

Please explain what you mean togo? How would this allow someone to manipulate the system? A commish can change the playoffs right now to their benefit, they are just limited to starting at a certain point. Regardless, if you're in a league where there are setting changes like that after the draft, then find a new league.

No!! Too many unscrupulous commissioners already. They don't need more ways to manipulate the system.

Any update on this Yahoo? I was really hoping we'd have this in place for this season.
I think a lot of people agree that it would be a very worthwhile feature. I have a feeling we'll be running into the same issues this year with big name players resting down the stretch. I love your platform but if we can't set our playoffs earlier for next year's season I'm thinking my leagues might have to jump ship elsewhere.

For example I have a 16 team league and to be fair would like to start the playoffs when every team has played each other at least once. This would mean for my we would have the playoffs in weeks 16,17 and 18. I think starting earlier is good as it reduces the risk of players being rested.
If you had a 10 team league then you could play each other twice meaning after starting playoffs in weeks 19,20 and 21.
I just think this option gives leagues a fair scheduling and playoff system.

Must allow the commissioner to set playoffs as early as desired. In a highly competitive league you cannot afford to have even a mid-tier player rest at any point of the playoffs. In my league 3 of the last 4 seasons medal winners of been altered due to top tier and mid tier players "resting." You don't work hard all season to lose the championship to something that most likely could have been negated... PLEASE correct this. ESPN allows you to set your own playoff schedule but I don't like ESPN's layout, etc

"Subjective situation if you ask me because it's not as if you can predict when teams will start resting guys randomly." Its pretty easy to compare how much DNPs was 3,4,5 years a go (not to go even more in past) and how many is in last season or two, its massive epidemic and going more and more in that way (and will be even worse with all teams going with Spurs model).

Quite the conundrum because you're also allowing less time for people to make up for poor starts or something (often because of injuries to key players) by starting playoffs earlier. That's unfair to those people as well. Subjective situation if you ask me because it's not as if you can predict when teams will start resting guys randomly. Just my piece.

Makes a lot of sense to have the option. Although managing resting and all what happens in the last weeks is part of the game and the fun.

Lost 13 1/2 player games in our championship week, including Thad Young who was rested (uninjured), played a game, then was rested again. Even injured players who happen to be on a team that is well situated will be more likely to take off a game then a similar injury earlier in the season.

I could not agree more with the comments. I've been with Yahoo for 12 years for our highly competitive fantasy basketball league, and every year the resting of players gets worse and worse. As the commissioner, I set the league to start the playoffs as soon as possible, but it is still not soon enough. Yahoo, PLEASE do something about this.
