A player who reaches a “doubtful” or “out” injury designation remains IR-eligible until the injury designation is fully removed.
Can you give fantasy commissioners the option to let “Doubtful” injured players be IR-eligible?
For example, I have Brock Bowers on my fantasy football team. He just had surgery this week to clean up his knee and reports say he’s going to miss a few games. His official designation by his team and the NFL is “doubtful” (which is a questionable diagnosis, but ok), so he will not be declared “out” or become IR-eligible until game-time on Sunday, so I will have to drop another roster player to add a replacement TE.
Where this gets frustrating is when it’s time to process waiver claims next week, Brock Bowers will be designated as “doubtful” once again and will become no longer IR-eligible and I’ll have to move him from the IR back to my roster to have a “legal” roster in order to make any other waiver claims and the entire cycle will repeat.
Ideally, it would be some kind of trigger that players who are given an “out” designation will remain IR-eligible until that injury designation is fully removed and they become playable again, but I’d settle for even making “doubtful” players IR-eligible.
