I REALLY need a compact view!
I don't like this new look very much at all, but I might be able to get used to it if I can have a compact view. Some themes or colors would be nice too.
Hi there, thank you for submitting feedback! We pushed the new layout a while ago and have been slowly migrating users. The migration is almost complete.
We see a lot of 'Compact View' feedback so we wanted to gather more feedback!
When looking at your Inbox, we have in the top, right hand side, the sorting icon. From there you can change the Inbox Spacing to: Small, Medium, Large. (Screenshot provided). Same under More > Settings > Appearance (Screenshot provided)
So our question to you:
- Are you not seeing these Settings/Choices?
- You DO see them, but you want it even more Compact? How compact is our question?
Thanks for your help!!

Let me control how much of my screen is used for viewing a message. It is INCREDIBLY frustrating to scroll through a lengthy email in a tiny window while the vast majority of my large monitor is taken up with... basically nothing. 80% of the monitor wasted, while I can barely read a thing. Also very unfriendly layout for resizing text/zoom for people with bad eyes.

Too much wasted space around the emails. I hate the new Yahoo Mail.

When viewing the Inbox (or I guess any folder with mail in it) why is there so much space between the messages? Didn't the old Yahoo Mail have a "Compact mode" to eliminate all that space? Why did you guys remove "Compact mode"?

I don't want a lot of bells and whistles. I liked my basic email layout. This new "improved" (?) layout assaults my eyes and my brain

I would like the tight spacing back please. The spacing is too wide and not enough emails fit on screen. It said in the update notes that I could go to settings to change the email display format, but thats not the case.
Tight spacing for emails would be appreciated.
Thank you -

You can only drag the divider line between the list and reading pane in a right view set up. You should be able to drag/re-size all the edges between far left nav ( no I don't want to collapse it), list column and reading pane. Or at the very least have the reading pane auto re-size to fill the white space when dragging the divider line as currently when I make the list column smaller, the reading pane stays the same size.
In addition, when double clicking to bring up an email larger ( since my reading pane is now smaller and not able to re-size it myself), it should be an overlay window to then be able to re-size by dragging myself to preferred size and be able to leave open if desired. Not just cover the list and reading pane, now I can't see my list or pane to compare with other emails.
Perhaps do some actual user testing with your long time power users in beta, pre launch!!!
Lastly, I also noticed some of the far right ads do NOT have the three dots to give feedback or no longer show which I believe is non compliant. ex; Daily Pets Health and Prodenta Ads. Both seem AI generated as well.

Need an option to make the look 'super compact,' so some people can use e-mail more efficiently. There is so much wastage of space. The new version I currently have is much worse than the older version. (Who is leading this effort?)

Wow. Just wow. I will finally be going to gmail. The outgoing emails I have tried to send today are now automatically double-spacing and the work-around that AI suggested has not worked. My professional emails now look wonky and unprofessional. It is also difficult to visually look at my email. I will finally be moving to gmail. Besides, hardly anyone uses yahoo email anymore anyways. Your improvements were anything but.

The biggest change I see is that there's an excessive amount of spacing between each email listed on my inbox. This means I can see fewer emails at a glance, which is a direct downgrade. I feel like there used to be an option to change this to a more useable list, but you seem to have removed it. As per usual, this isn't an "upgrade".

I have been forced into the new version today and found it better than the trial, thankfully - good to see the folders on the left hand side.
I look forward to Compact View being introduced, as it is currently difficult to view the inbox with so much white space between lines. Thank you

Give us the option of making the space between emails smaller. I want a more compact, denser view of my inbox.

i use color to tell which account i'm looking at. this half-baked update is breaking workflows. also, there's WAY too much empty padding everywhere. If you can't provide an efficient view, bring back the older view for a bit longer.

COMING SOON! Compact Views are coming soon!
ARE YOU KIDDING????? Why did you release this now without my knowledge and make me look all over to find the setting for compact view when it doesn't exist. I should move to GMail like all my friends.

Need a compact view again and a way to change the colors/themes. This is messy and ugly.

I don't like how my inbox is so compact. I need more space or differential between read and unread, today's emails and last weeks. I also move a lot of emails to folders. It was easier before when I could see the folders rather than them be a drop down. The mobile app, I'm good with, not an issue. I use that for quick glances and it works well. The desktop version it's too compact and I prefer the older versions better. If there can be an option to go back on desktop, that would help me.

I’m glad Compact View is coming soon. The current spacing between email rows makes it harder to scan my inbox and see more messages at once. Please prioritize this feature—I miss the tighter spacing of the previous layout.

People working on devices with smaller screens in a portable setting can benefit from layout options that include control over how much white space is used between the text elements. Depending on the user preferences, they can also change the text size. Some people seem to gravitate towards more text-dense environments whereas others like more pictures and design elements also. It's hard to please everyone, but maybe giving some control over the white space woud be a start.
