Rosters/Lineups - Roster limits for positions.
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 QBs on their roster or a team can have a minimum of 1 kicker. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

I hope this is implemented.

position limits should be allowed for private leagues. The inability to set position limits makes Yahoo an inferior Fantasy host site. This thread has been around for nearly a year and Yahoo has blatantly ignored it. What a bunch of Motherforkers they are. They don't care what their users want. ***** Yahoo.

The whole point of fantasy football is to pick a team of individual players. Some players (including Hoyer and Manziel) are riskier than others, and successfully managing this risk is how you win. If you're uncomfortable dealing with the risk of individual players, why not just bet on games? That gets you the "group performance" you want.

Great idea. Would love to have this option

I've won 2 of the last 3 SB's in my league. Thanks for the advice, though. It's not just with Belichick, it's with all teams except maybe the Bears. There aren't anymore true 3 down backs.
I guess your league doesn't use team defenses? Fantasy football is about having fun, not trying to guess which handcuff to use, or whether or not to listen to injury reports ie Reggie Bush.
It would be nice to have the option!

... and now you have learned a valuable lesson about how Bill Belichick operates.
Fantasy football is about individual players. Some players are risky because of injuries, some are risky because of their coaching staff ... but a little luck and good risk management is how you win.

I think that our league should have the option of drafting entire teams at the RB position due to injuries and handcuffs. For example, we could draft individual players at every position, but for the RB position we could draft the Houston Texans, or the New England Patriots. There are a million reasons for this, but my latest example is the fact that I have Jonas Gray and Shane Vereen on my team. The week that Gray scored 4 TD's he was on the bench and I had Vereen in the starting lineup, and he didn't do anything for me.
With RB's splitting time more and more these days, it is very difficult (and not fun) to guess which one is going to play. Vulturing td's sucks, too!!

The commish needs to step up. The commish as the ability to delete players from rosters. What can be done is if a player exceeds 3 QBs, he has to tell the commish which to drop or the commish will bench his entire team until they respond by dropping a QB themselves or telling the commish which QB to delete.

I'm in a 12 person, 2 QB league and before the draft we made a rule that at no point in the season could any team have more than 3 qbs on their roster. We did this because if people were allowed to have as many qbs as they wanted, some teams would have 4 qbs or more which would make bye weeks impossible for other owners to field a full roster. Currently there is no way for us to regulate this through yahoo, we just have to do it on our own. Since we have no idea who people are planning to add from free agents and waivers, some people have added a 4th qb to their team which has caused some sportsmanship issues on how exactly we should punish that owner. If there was an option to just have a limit of 3 qbs on a roster at any time, that would make enforcing this rule much easier, and in essence eradicate any cheating speculation and sportsmanship issued in our league.

I completely agree.
We have position limits of 3 QB, 6 RB, 6 WR, 3 TE, 3 K and 3 DEF and everyone is constantly making mistakes and going over. I would like to be able to control position limits as the commish.
Thanks,

the comments in this thread are very good. It's time Yhoo entered the 21st century and allow commishes to set position limits. Or for a league that uses IDPs.. A minimum # of defense and/or offense would be very helpful.

every other fricking fantasy website allows private leagues to set their own roster/position limits. But not Yahoo. Welcome to 1983.
And I can't for the life of me understand why any of the bozos have objections to this. No one would force your private league to have position limits... it would be decided by your league whether or not to impose roster position limits. So why are some of you crying? Get a grip.

Jose - Nobody is implying that this should be a Yahoo! Default Setting or that EVERY LEAGUE needs to impose limits. However, it works best in some Leagues and Commissioners around the world would find value in having this as an OPTION.
If you don't like limits, then don't sign up for a league that has them...and most other sites do, in fact. CBS has them. ESPN has them. Nobody cries.
The whole point of having a "Commissioner" is to police the teams that refuse to police themselves - we should have ultimate power to enforce any guidelines that help improve the league or maintain competitive balance. You want Commissioners to "cause their managers to draft a different mix of players" when in reality, that's an impossible feat. You know how a Commissioner can "cause their managers to draft a different mix of players", though?
Limits.

My league plays idp with 4 lab's, 4 db's and 3 D. We always have issues with people hoarding mostly with QB's and lb's. Bench limits don't solve anything in my opinion.
