Rosters/Lineups - Roster limits for positions.
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 QBs on their roster or a team can have a minimum of 1 kicker. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

We fill our rosters any number as desired by position, but do have the need to limit the QB position to 2 max in our 12 team league.

Absolutely!
It's must-add functionality, as most other sites already have this OPTION...that's the key word. It doesn't have to be Yahoo! Default, but allowing this option for private leagues is essential.
Especially, for Keeper Leagues where teams seem to sit on crucial positions (RB, TE) for weeks at a time...please add this feature!!

Please add positions for bench players. Our league has max roster limits in order to have a hot waiver wire. But without the bench player positions, sometimes teams make a mistake and pick up a player that makes their roster illegal. This forces the commissioner (ME) to have to go back in and add/drop for them. Plus since its a hot waiver wire, now I have to go back and figure out who would have had the opportunity to get the player in the first place. It also forces the commissioner (ME) to have to look over the transactions and rosters every week to make sure no one is illegal. You can still have the option of NO roster limitations, just add the option to HAVE roster limitations. So those in leagues without limits are not affected but those with limits it will make the commissioners job that much easier. Thx!

This is already opened as another topic and the 4th ranked overall so go vote for it there.

Agree 100%, In a 2 QB league, it is very important to not have people hoard them.

Interestingly enough......this has been done for public leagues. The max for each position was rolled out late last week.

I suggest Yahoo give commissioners the ability to limit the number of players a team can draft for a single position. I have several 16 team leagues and without fail there is that one player who drafts QB after QB. One team with 5QBs in a 16 team league means several teams will be forced to trade with him just to get a starting QB, let alone get a second QB for depth and bye week. That would go a long way to a great 2018 season.

People whining about the possibility of this being included are being ridiculous. If you're worried about your commish changing roster limits mid season, then you should probably be in a different league. This is a change that NEEDS to be included. Especially for 2 QB leagues. Yes, commishes can edit rosters and drop players, but that doesn't change the fact that it messes up waivers. What do you do when multiple guys try and pick up a QB off waivers, and the guy that already has the max number of QBs gets him and puts him over the QB limit? Yeah, you can manually drop that player as a commish, but now everyone else in the league knows who bid what. Or if you play with the default waiver system, and someone forgets to put in a claim for a guy for the week all of a sudden gets a chance to get them now because someone didn't follow rules. This actually happened in a league of mine a couple years ago which is why I refuse to play in 2 QB leagues on Yahoo. Yahoo, please change this! We need positional limits as an option.

I would hate this rule. A player in one of my leagues ran his league this way and wanted our league to adopt the max limits too. It was voted down 11 - 1. Most people do not agree with max position player limits. Especially a bad idea for keeper leagues.

I don't want to join a league & then discover that the Commish is enforcing a roster limit on some position.
And I don't want to be in a league with a Commish who can impose a roster limit on some position at some point in the season.
Well, I guess maybe I'd be okay with it IF the players are allowed to remove the Commish after he imposes a roster limit and then we could return the league to sensible rules. -

I'd want as many RBs as I could get. RBs are frequently injured, demoted, or ignored. The NFL probably goes through about a hundred starting and committee RBs per year, and even the elite ones aren't used much some weeks. If I didn't have a good extra RB, then I'd have to try to be the first person to check the waiver wire each week that one of RBs is injured or on a bye or meeting a team with a good run defense.
Putting a limit on the number on your roster favors the person who sits with his computer on his lab ready to pounce on an RB immediately when something goes wrong.
The limit also presents an ugly problem when an injury causes a few games to be missed. If you have 4 RBs, the odds are that one will be on his bye week at the same time that another one has a two-week injury and another one is scheduled to play against the third best run defense in the NFL. You almost have to find another RB to take the place of one of the ones on your roster, but you can't afford to drop any of the three described above. So, what do you do?
If during the draft you picked up a couple of RBs who are part of a committee, then you could limp along until your injuries and bye weeks are solved. If not, then you lose to the person who is sitting with his computer in his lap ready to pounce on whatever RB looks promising for the next week. -

Regardless of whether it would be after the draft or before the draft,
I'd hate to have this rule imposed on a league that I play in. -

If I join a league and then the Commish imposes this limit rule,
will I be allowed to drop the league?
In the past, when the Commish changes rules,
Yahoo has not allowed us to drop out of the league. -

I oppose this idea.
I want to keep a couple of good players on my bench at all times.
They are useful for injuries and byeweeks.
Limiting my bench will limit my ability to manage my team well. -

I don't want in a league with this rule. It forces teams to have few bench players. Then when an injuries occur, whomever is awake at the time pulls in the best replacement player.
Why not have better scoring rules. If Ks and DEFs were given more points, then teams would have less reason to hoard QBs and RBs.
