Other sites use their stats. In finals tonight and my goalie has two assist s. This is nonsense

For the same reason pitchers don't have their batting stats counted in fantasy baseball: that's not what they are there for.

This is fantasy hockey, not fantasy skills competition. And GMs just discussed ways to make shootouts less a part of the regular season. As they should.

I don't see what's so dumb about this Trevor??
If that goal counts, decides the game, and gives a team one extra point, why isn't it a goal stat??
No logic that you try can work. Go ahead.....

Takeaways, giveaways, and faceoff percentage would be welcome. The idea with special teams points would be nice (as would shootout percentage.)

John, there are ample categories to assign negative points. Using a disparaging and offensive, such as "sissy" is very immature.

Scoring penalties as a positive stat add more players to the mix. Players such as Steve Downie, Brandon Dubinsky, Chris Krieder, Travis Hamonic, Dustin Byfuglien are more valuable. If you want to run a sissy European hockey pool with only offensive stats, then take out PIMs. Quit your whining about penalties.

Rewarding a player or a team for a penalty is contrary to logic. I agree that PIM should reflect as the NHL applies the category.

No offense to the guy who suggested this but please do not include goalie scoring. It's such a dumb idea. Yes goalies rarely get goals, assists, SOG and occasionally get PIMs but it's so infrequent it's just a waste of time and a clutter of the pages to include this.

Goalies also need overtime Loss points. I think it will help even out some leagues

We have always excluded PIM from our custom league specifically because of situations where a player gets ejected from a game (I'm looking at you Lucic) and the team owning that player wins the PIM point for the week. I agree that fights could be a positive stat, but nobody should ever be happy when their player is ejected for a game misconduct.
Side note: penalties drawn would be an awesome category -

I don't think that any shoot out points should be included. Even the NHL doesn't count them. If a game goes into the shootout at 0-0, both goalies get a shutout.
The goalie should definitely be able to score the other stat categories. Some teams have goalies that are good at handling the puck. They'll score some assists during the season. You probably wouldn't win or lose based on the few times this happens. But your player still earned those points, so there should be an option of allowing them to count.

Add a penalty plus/minus. They already track who takes/draws any given penalty. Then give the commissioners a choice for league scoring between: 1) Most PIMs 2) Least PIMs 3) Best PIM +/-

You can. you set scoring to 'lowest amount wins' upon creation of the league. I believe this option is available for every category if my memory serves me correctly.

Goalie SOG, PPP, G, A and SHP will be meaningful about a dozen times a season across the entire NHL. Pretending they are factors you could use to pick a team is just plain stupid.
It would be as logical to add scoring stats for goalies as to add a Shut Out and Save category for forwards. There would never be a SO and every month or so a skater would get credit for an actual save.
And just as it happens in football when a WR makes a tackle he gets credit for it so there is no need to make it an official category for goalies. If a goalies scores a goal is goes on the board just like when a receiver tips a ball into a defenders hands and then tackles him he gets credit for a tackle.

Like the idea, adds yet another dimension to follow. If it is a "horrible idea" don't add the position to your league scoring.

Its a great idea. It does not need to be a mandatory position, this way the traditionalists won't need to incorporate it.
